You're in for treat! But you need to be a bit zen about the time and effort it takes to assemble the figure into full costume. I've put together a few WWII military figures, which can be finicky - but this was probably more frustrating because of how poorly the connecting rods/spikes secure one part to another. You'll have just got one part right only to find something else has come apart or fallen off. When I eventually did get it all assembled it presented as a very impressive figure. As others have said, it is a real centre piece.

Just wondering, but does it come with instructions on how to assemble it, or are we just left to figure it out?

Yeh, the instructions are helpful. Together with the pics posted in this thread there's little guess work.

Thanks guys. This really is a stand out figure. Couple of notes abut the figure.
First is like many have mentioned , the hands. Its pretty obvious that they had problems coming out of the factory. There is some kind of adhesive they put on the pegs to get them to stick better. They included four pegs but none will stay in, even under their own weight without hands attached.
Next would be the head. It sort of attaches to the neck plug but it basically rattles around. Appears the inner ring is too low so it doesn't fit on tight.
The armor connectors don't hold the armor. The sculpt of them is really well done, but the peg that holds them on is a tapering cylinder so friction is the only thing and its not enough. I tried a few and then said piss on it and glued mine on. Problem solved for me.
Those are the main down points. Other then that this thing is so amazing looking. The armor looks great and fits well once the connectors are sorted out. Amazing details and the swords! The swords are really a class act. Love the whole figure. Such a great piece.

Got mine yesterday, and everything you said Robbie is so true...I think I spent 3 hours to get those ****ing pegs to stay, then the head would wobble...but I finally got it to work, but I'm considering the glue. Any suggestions?

Received my general Maximus. Had a quick look this morning, looks great. I'm loving the headsculpt!
I'll post some pics later today or tomorrow if I don't get home from work early enough...

Impressive figure.

Take your time putting it together, not easy, just stay calm :)

Had a Hot Toys Russel Crowe head ready, but am keeping the original ACI.

Figure steals the show

Hmm. Tracking says it reached the unit yesterday in Mechanicsburg 17055. Problem is it was supposed to come to my work which is in Carlisle. Now I know there is a post office in Mechanicsburg with that zip code but I don't know if USPS would ship from Harrisburg to Mechanicsburg to Carlisle or straight from Harrisburg to Carlisle. All 3 towns are within 45 minutes of each other. Thoughts? Misdelivered package?

I bet it is just a final sorting facility and all will be good. Sometimes USPS ships around their *** to get to their elbow.

I'm a bit flummoxed by the reactions I'm reading here. This is a $200 figure, that has a decent headsculpt, hands that don't stay on, and armor that doesn't stay together.

And people are excited about the figure??

What am I missing here??

Don't get me wrong, I like ACI. . . I'm not a huge fan of them going back to the well on Roman Gladiator stuff over and over, but they are doing new things. However, with the problems on this figure, it seems like people should be tearing them a new one over this, especially after the delays to get it right.

This V :lecture

Pretty simple--the sum of awesomeness is greater than the various, individual flaws.

Personally, my hands were trouble free - I think the glue that was used on the pegs has created enough thickness for them to friction-fit in the holes pretty well. I was ready with some plumber's tape or alternative HT pegs just in case the fit wasn't good, but ended up not having to go that route.

I like the headsculpt. It's not 100% Crowe, but it's a very decent likeness. Far superior in its representation of Crowe than the DX Indy sculpt is of Ford for example.

As for the armour, once posed the pegs don't present a problem. Certainly in handling the figure one or two will likely fall off, but it's an easy fix... either glue or double-sided tape will have these straps properly secured.

My headsculpt was also nice and tight, so I guess I lucked out with a good example. But the fixes are so minor I can't bring myself to be bothered about them at all. It doesn't need a body swap, expensive custom parts or a new head sculpt.

Once together, this figure has a great shelf presence. The detailing is pretty sweet, the materials work well, the body appears pretty good (apart from the issues with the hands and for some, the head)... those who got on board early enough could've had this for $160 shipped. I'd happily pay a Hot Toys price for this though. Like Karamazov has said, the awesomeness conquers all :)

I third that. Even with a few minor troubles this is an amazing figure. It has such a presence on the shelf. It has more draw visually then a lot of figures on my shelf. Right now its one of my favorite figures.

In other words, I like it a lot.

I'm pretty shocked that there has been very little written in this thread or over at OSW. I'm guessing its only because its not in people possession yet.

I guess I'm just taken aback. With all the nit-picking that goes on around here. . . and this figure does have actual manufacturing problems, and people are like "eh, whatever, I still think it's great".

I guess when it doesn't have a certain logo on the box, people's expectations are lower.

:dunno

It is funny where people decide something is worth complaining about. For example nobody seems to mind Sideshows's floppy bodies (at least the Star Wars figures I have suffer from not being able to stand up on their own) - but as soon as Enterbay has a problem with floppy bodies everybody goes ballistic.

For me, this does everything that matters to me in a figure. The small issues it does have are so easily and cheaply fixed I think folks are prepared to give ACI a free pass.
