Got the Kaustic Plastic "Valerius" Roman Army figure today to display along side Maximus. This figure is, I believe, approx. 2 years old now as it came out some time in 2011. First off it is mixed media of metal, pleather, wood, cloth and plastic (body). It came new and un-displayed, but with a good amount of problems from poor glue that was used to hold the metal to the pleather. I won't review the figure here since this is an ACI thread, but I do prefer plastic armor over metal for sure since seeing the issues using metal cause if this is any indication. Anyway, he looks great after I broke out the super glue and fixed the many parts coming apart:gah::slap.

Love this figure, but had a brutal time putting it all together. Couldn't figure out how to attach the cloak properly as the straps didn't seem long enough so it's sort of draped on him now. Also gave up on getting the belt to look decent so I ended up just not even using it. :-/

The straps on the cloak wrap over the shoulder armor, come back under the arm pits and attach from behind around his mid back. Think of similar to a back pack. There should be more than enough length to the straps.

Not on mine. :( One of the straps is long enough... the other is not even 1/2 the length.

Argh. I like that they were thinking outside of the box with how to get it to look great in 1/6. I prefer plastic armor and the rubber for the leather straps is okay. But trying to put this thing together is driving me crazy. I think I've spent a total of about 4 hours and it's still popping straps whenever he moves. Glue isn't a solution because there's nothing for the glue to stick to, just the sides of the holes. Maybe some putty will do the trick...

If you glue the armor at the shoulders there is a tab that will hold the glue. This also aligns the sides better so the rubber tabs fit more.snug. i did put a bit of glue on a couple.of the rubber tabs that were still loose, but it stays together very well now.

I haven't worked on mine yet but I'm going to try something different with the pegs. I'm going to put the pegs through the holes in all the spots except the ones on the sides in the front. Once they are through I am going to heat a nail up or something like that and flatten down the peg from the inside. When they are all on except the side front ones it should be like a shell which I will put over the head and just glue the front ones. I'm thinking it should stay pretty well. This should even work on the shoulder armor.

I put mine together on a narrow shoulder TT body. Think it looks better that way. Still need to customize the maroon ribbons and weather him a bit. Also thinking of making a snowy base for him...

Good idea - I had thought about heat - I think I'll try this too.

Okay, I tried heating a nail and only succeeded in burning through the plastic tab. But I heated up my needlenose pliers and just flattened the tab after pulling it through and that seems to have done the trick. Unfortunately the tab a burnt off was in the shoulder armor - the trickiest piece. Perhaps some wire...
