Sounds like a good method, not too hard to achieve.

However, I'm more worried about how to get the shoulder guards on. The holes are obviously too small for the pegs and it looks like quite a chore to align them with the armor on, but at the same time, I don't think it would be feasible to have the shoulder guards already attached before putting the armor on the figure...

if the holes are too small just widen them a bit with an exacto. lining it up after wont be that hard because that shoulder armor is flexible. no no no! dont put the shoulder armor before.. u will never get that armor on & u'll prolly break the shoulder piece. u need to close the "clam shell" tight first before putting on the shoulder piece. u'll c what i mean once u get the armor on..

I'll have to look at mine when I'm home later to jog my memory. If I remember correctly I used the method I described on all the pins including the shoulder armor.

Sorry for the lack of pics guys, didn't have any time this week end, will try the next.
The General is all set up now and does look mighty impressive.
The neck still is a tad too long, which kinda bugs me, so I'll probably have to take a look into that. I didn't find a way to get the pegs of the shoulder armor into the cuirass, so for now I just used some rolled up double-sided tape to secure it on the back.
I will have to look into a better way to secure them.

Started the majority of the build today.. went with the hot water (to help adjust some back armor mis alignment issues) + dremel with drill attachment to slightly widen the holes on the armor. So far so good, and everything is staying in place with movement.

Sorry for the delay in posting pics, but it was a hectic couple of week (ends).

So, finally, here's my Maximus.

I already did a review, so I'll just let the pics do the talking.

I haven't put the leather straps on the hands correctly yet (didn't even do so on the left hand), so that's something I'll have to adjust later on. Looking at film stills, I couldn't find any reference of both swords being used, so I'm debating on getting rid of the gladius and just leaving the spahta.
Do you gents have any thoughts on that?

I really like the HS a lot, and it seems to photograph even better. I won't be looking for a replacement any time soon. The length of the neck does bother me, though. Whenever I'm ready to resume work on the figure I'll look into shortening the neck a bit. Has anyone done this?

I still couldn't get the pegs of the shoulder guards into the muscle cuirass, and it is hopelessly misaligned, thankfully it's not noticeable with the cape on.
But it does bother me no end, as it's pretty much impossible to handle and pose the figure: the shoulder guards would just fall off...

Any insight into how you got them on and stay in place would be very helpful morbidaj.

And just for the fun of it, here's Maximus with my earlier Legatus Legionis, Gregorius. :D

And a couple more pics of Legatus Lgionis Gregorius.

Most, if not all, of his gear is Ignite.
The muscle cuirass is Ignite repainted.
The cloak is Ignite customized.
The "shirt" is simply cloth from a tunic sewn into sleeves.
The pants are from some old DML barbarian figure if I remember correctly, bleached and dyed.
The greaves are also Ignite, but I think they came with a Hoplite.
The boots are repainted DML, again from some barbarian.
The vambraces are custom made.

I hope you enjoy.

in the beginning when he's on the horse charging at the Germanians, he kills one with i think the gladius then whips out his back up spahta to kill the next.... a la Braveheart...

Yeah, I think he decapitates somebody and the gladius gets stuck in the tree, he then wips out the spahta (long sword used by the cavalry, BTW) which seems to be sheathed in the saddle.
On th eother hand, in the opening scenes, when he's inspecting the troops, it seems the spahta is hanging from his shoulder, but there's no gladius to be seen...

I'll look for pics.

Here's a couple of stills I found.

Battle and aftermath:

He is indeed using the spahta, and there is no belt or sheath for the gladius.

Inspecting the troops:

He's clearly got the spahta hanging from his shoulder.

And getting ready to charge:

No sheath for either spahta or gladius.

So it seems we could do without the gladius, as he's never seen wearing it in the movie.

dang, ur really after that screen accuracy huh? i really like his look with the 2 sheaths on both sides... makes him look more complete to me. on a side note, the quality on these ACI swords are outstanding!

Yeah, I figured if he's supposed to represent Maximus, maybe nice to have him as accurate as possible...
But I haven't made up my mind yet.
