Didn't Tamashii say that Toei (or whoever) didn't want the smiling big eyed face for SSJ Goku because, and I'm paraphrasing what I remember reading, SSJ Goku is supposed to be a hardcore bada$$ and he doesn't have a kawaii face? I can understand that, somewhat reluctantly, but why wouldn't they want the smirking, serious eye face? It is one of the most SSJ faces I can picture. It's such a cocky, 'lets get this fight going already' face. Isn't that what SSJ is all about? Ugh..

Hopefully they decide to release one with Super Saiyan 2 Goku. It seems to be his go-to face in most pictures of him in that form.

I hate this, my pet-peeve when collecting a line, inconsistency. SSj hair is the one thing that is suppose to remain constant across characters (Broly is a freak though, he's suppose to be different) But everyone else should have the same color, same balance of highlight and shadows. I really really want a pack with all SSj hair/faces for all characters that are the same color across the board.

I don't care if it's aura glow yellow, or calm platinum blond yellow, it should just be the same for everyone.

It shouldnt be the same though, thats the point. All of them have the same shading apart from manga goku, but their hair styles are all different, meaning different shades based on the sun, etc. I would imagine that is what tamashii thinks anyway.

I've got to say that the best colored hair is on ss3 Goku. SDCC Goku is great but the shading makes it stick out like a sore thumb.

The color might vary due to the character's original hair color and style. Trunks had blue-ish white and hung down on his head, instead of upwards like Goku, Gohan and Vegeta. Vegeta's seemed brown at times...but I think like Goku and Gohan, it was black. Gohan's hair always changed styles in the anime. I guess another thing could be the level of Super Saiyan - Gohan's SSJ1 hair looks flatter compared to his SSJ2 for instance.

The color varies throughout the anime and there is no "defined" color. At times we've seen it a white yellow, and at other times a bright, golden yellow. Usually it's a pale yellow for Super Saiya-jin WITHOUT flame and then gets more of the golden "shine" from the ki flames.

But there's just no consistency with the series, crisis is right. It just varies throughout...

Typically, animations have "style" guides and colors are involved in those. However, given how DBZ has lasted for a variety of years, and the style changes in the source material, the anime changed to reflect that (and Toei may have sub-contracted out to other animation studios which made their own variations).

So Tamashii is just going to vary the colors. They probably rely on all the various drawings as source material and the colors are never "on" all the time.

IMHO, Trunks has the best coloured SS hair of the bunch. SS3 Goku's look way too waxy. SDCC Goku's has way too much orange shading. SDCC Gohan's has far too little shading. Lastly, SS Vegeta's hair is way too over-saturated.

I agree. Super Saiyan 3 Goku's hair is my favorite because it has the most natural flow and the coloring is very nice. SDCC Super Saiyan Goku's hair annoys me for some reason. I think if the shading for the front part of his hair were reversed, it would look more natural to me.

Edited: SDCC Super Saiyan Goku's hair would look good if he was performing the Kamehameha wave. I could imagine the lighting working well for that.

That inconsitance only existed breifly in the anime. The manga and the movies SSj hair was the same across the characters most of the time.

The largest variations happen when you compare different saga's, but typically when in the same saga (exceptions noted) it comes out uniform.

When the hair ever varies from two characters, it's unusual.

They should pick one shading style, and apply it to all the figures. I think that's what Philo is getting at, because these figures haven't been done that way. Personally, I'm happy with the way Gohan, Vegeta, and Trunks are painted. It's mostly just SSJ and SDCC Goku that would need changes to fit in.

It was a story from an old OLD game, which got an animated special OVA.

They updated it, and completely redrew the whole thing for 2011. (the original looked better)

Yes, Anti-Wave gets me

I personally like SSj Gohan's hair, and wish everyone looked like that, but more than anything I just wish they looked the same no matter what style.
