I like this post, well said Deano. I myself have SDCC Goku and was able to buy it close to retail and I actually still have him mint in box. When the time comes that I get bored of my figures I'm going to sell all my figures at retail and let someone else enjoy them as much as I did.

I get that this is currently THE figure everyone wants, but so has every other figure in the line, and we have never had any trouble buying even just after release. Japanese sites ALWAYS run out of products immediately after their preorders go up, som Kamen Riders only go up for MINUTES. Its a plain-as-day demand inflation tactic. BBTS, anime-island, to arena etc will all have pre order stock for ages after they go up.

There is no reason to go to defcon 1 people, relax!

Man, please stop going on about that. Most people dont care, I certainly dont. I have been collecting these long enough to know what to expect. I will just be happy when i get him for a price I want to pay. I'm not paying a premium to maybe get him a bit earlier, thats just bonkers.

EDIT: I will give a bit of backstory, since you are persistent on saying the same thing; I have preordered from Japanese sites in the past, Nippon-Yassan to be precise. It was regular Goku. I knew about the shipping issues America was having at the time so I took the chance, and regretted it. Even with the issues, and TWO MONTH delay in America, folks still got him before me. Does that sound like early premium to you? Nope.

I will also add that I have also bought from ami-ami before, and on BOTH occasions have been done for customs charges, so yeah, I have a dislike of Japanese sites, can anyone blame me?

There is literally no point in going for the early option, because you have just as much chance of getting it on time as you do waiting ages for it.

Hulk (and Broly for that matter) are massive figures that will have limited stock, but this is THE penultimate version of Goku we are talking about. Theres a reason he isnt a web exclusive, they know people want him, They wont limit his production, I guarantee it.

You're not most people. Gotta remind yourself. Most of these stores are selling at early bird discount prices. Hence the rush for preordering these figures. Full retail price is like 5500 yen. Amiami had a 26% discount on this item. Shipping is reasonably cheap. So I don't see where you're getting tis premium price bs from

The whole "early bird" thing is, as I said, a marketing supply+demand ploy to get people to buy them up quickly. Compare prices when they are both available at RRP, I will guarantee the American stores will be quite a bit cheaper.

I've ordered from amiami many times and never had any issues with them. I only get taxed by customs when there were too many items in the order. But other than that, nada!

And your 2 month wait is due to you using their cheapest shipping methods. You got no one but yourself to blame.

I prefer ordering directly from Japan just because my wife's family lives there and if they forward it to me the packages never get opened by customs (I'm from Germany, customs here are a *****)

I had to pay tax for EVERY package from amiami and BBTS I ever got.

I can understand people who want to get their order in as soon as possible as there is no way to know how many they are going to produce. Especially with the avengers hype I would have expected them to make enough of the figures but as we all know they didn't.
