It would be interesting to know what Tamashii's game plan is at the moment. Whether they're updating protoypes, focusing on other Dragon Ball Z Character Categories (which was hinted by Adam Newman), or even re-evaluating their schedule. Compared to last year, in regards to the quantity of S.H. Figuarts releases, it's very lacking.

I would be very surprised if they went a full year without an S.H. Figuarts Goku release. November/December may be the perfect timing for Premium Color Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Super Saiyan 4 Goku , or even a Super Saiyan God Goku. I do feel the last two prototypes were the most production-ready from Tamashii Nations 2015, at least in regards to Goku.

Gohan/Gotenks absorbed Super Buu only needed fixed knee articulation to be production-ready and Super Saiyan 3 *Gotenks/Goku and Kid Buu's release in the Figuarts Zero EX line may open the Buu Saga door on other character categories.

Either Tamashii Nations will, hopefully, have a fresh start come 2017 or we'll see something similar to 2016 with more Super releases, a couple 2.0 releases, and 1 or 2 Premium Color releases.

nah man it's more simple. those months were already fully booked the moment they decided who'd be next to release

Probably not. The new Trunks has SWA Goku's shoulders and Vegeta's arms so I doubt they are any different on the new Vegeta.
Trunks shoulders are a new sculpt actually, they are definitely not the same man.

Looking at Vegeta though he has SWA Gokus shoulders to add a bit of bulk to him.

As we've seen and further evidence for...Tamashii Nations is going to run the Dragon Ball line 'very' slowly and methodically. And from a business aspect...it makes sense. Dragon Ball doesn't have the plethora of characters and incarnations that Tamashii's "abundant" lines like Kamen Rider, Ultra Man and Saint Seiya have. And as much as fans might want to see Yamcha, Tien, etc. those characters just aren't sellers like the 'main' bunch in the form of the Saiyan Z-Warriors. I have no doubt we'll eventually see them, but expect them to be balanced with a 'popular' release alongside it or soon after.

It was reported somewhere that Dragon Ball merchandise also took the "#2" spot (behind GUNDAM) and finally overtaking One Piece, for 2015/early 2016-or-something-like-that. This will further reaffirm to Bandai that they are "proceeding according to plan" in terms of the Dragon Ball line. Unfortunately, I don't think that means increasing the number of releases unless we see something to spur them into action (like " Resurrection'F " made them fast-track SSGSS Goku and Golden Frieza and DBS pushed them to do Beerus and Whis). If we're lucky, we might get a new DBS Future Trunks if the storyline turns out to be popular.

Keep in mind at the end of the day, it's a business and Tamashii wants to stretch the line for the LONG term...which is a good sign because it means they see longevity in it. Unfortunately for us fans, it means we have to be patient for a number of characters and releases.

It absolutely makes sense. They have quite a few revealed prototypes but they also have so many that we haven't seen. It's all a puzzle to them and, like blood said, they're just filling in the months. Less popular characters will have their day. It may be very few and far between, with hopeful updates as the line progresses, but they will be released.

It may not result in increasing the number of S.H. Figuarts releases but it has put focus on all Dragon Ball Z Character Categories. June is the 1st, and only at the moment, month of the year without a release in either the S.H. Figuarts, Figuarts Zero, or Figuarts Zero EX line. (Although, it does have a Super Warrior Awakening Super Saiyan Goku reissue.) Dragon Ball Super Future Trunks is already in the prototype process. It's only a matter of when they'll release him.

Adam Newman said that he sees the Dragon Ball line continuing for the next 5 - 10 years. I'm all in.

Totally agree. We also have to remember just how "regular" the releases already have become. We have already had more figures this year than most previous years!

A video appeared in my youtube preferences and it made me sick with anger; morons attacking tamashii for only caring about the money and throwing releases out constantly, oblivious to the fact that this is EXACTLY what we all hoped for years ago.

The line is flourishing and yes, quality has dipped slightly, but thats all but expected with the level they are currently making.

<strike>aaaaaand people will not be pleased with those eyes looking up</strike>

nvm, he comes with two angry faces

Well, so far his accessory count seems decent; 4 faces at least, 3 sets of hands and a special thumbs up hand, and crossed arms? Thats about the same as scouter Vegeta minus the effect part.

Also, someone needs to tell them to stop trying to pose him doing the final flash, it always looks awkward and isnt even how it looks more than halfway through it! He holds his hands out cupped infront of him about 3/4 of the way through it lol.

Glad we're all on the same page.

Of course Bandai/Tamashii cares about money, it's a BUSINESS afterall. They need money to operate, pay employees, produce products, buy equipment, research and develop, etc. etc. Yes, customer feedback and demand is factored in there, but less-knowledgeable fans need to grow up and understand at the end of the day, Bandai-Namco is making toys, action figures, video games, even amusement parks, etc. to MAKE MONEY.

I used to look at toy companies from a fanboy optic long ago, but once you learn more about the in's-and-out's and understand how businesses operate, you see why they're more conservative in their decision-making processes, especially those that create products to fulfill customer needs/demands. Bandai-Namco has shareholders to answer to and those people want to see profit and their stock prices go up. Businesses like this operate on a fiscal calender with quarterly-earnings,half-earnings, etc. and want to show gains each quarter/half/etc. This is why Bandai-Namco strategic places Dragon Ball (and other popular figure releases) figures stretched out amongst a fiscal calender, in order to maximize profit. The new SSJ Vegeta might be good-to-go by the end of the summer, but they'll be strategic about his release to get him in the International market around Christmas-time because they know that's when they can generate the most profit.

I don't know why those idiots are up in arms at Tamashii, but it sounds like they need to grow up and look at how good we have it right now.

We may have it good but if the accessories gradually decrease and the retail price still gets jacked up, then I might have to bail on this line altogether. Armor Trunks is a great figure but an extra face or 2 (or in this case, that omitted extra hair) can really make a difference. These things are already pretty expensive as is. Case in point, Whis.

I just got Vegito in the mail a few days ago, does the smiling face looks a little awkward to anyone else or is it just me?

Yeah, it's supposed to be a smirk but it turned out creepy looking. That's why I've never displayed my Vegetto with that face.

Yeah, it's an unfortunate downside with collecting Tamashii Nations. The figure bodies and molds have gotten way better, but their accessories have been lacking as prices continue to go up...

I don't see the trend changing soon. Action figure prices across the world have been going up as accessories, quality, etc. have been slowly going down in some cases...

I visited Image Anime in Manhattan for the first time this weekend to acquire Armor Trunks, and I gotta say I was quite impressed with their DBZ displays! They have literally everything

Nice! How are their prices?

They're actually pretty standard -_- No cheap deals or anything from what I saw. I'm sure they have a few sales but nothing that caught my eye. But the selection of items is enormous. I wanted to stay longer so I can get a better look at everything & individual prices, but I was parked at a weird street where I wasn't sure if I was going to get a ticket or not (those that are familiar with NYC know exactly what I'm talking about lol). Plus I live 45 minutes away so I was just trying to play it safe. But they had everything, Stage Act 4 stands, all the blast effects, DVD wall, model kits, you name it. Like shopping online at BBTS or Toyz, except everything is physically in front of you! It's not a huge store either so that amount of inventory was pretty damn cool. It's import heaven.

Everyone should have access to local stores like this instead of ordering online all the time

It's very irritating to see consumers upset at Tamashii Nations over the current situation. Whether this line lasts 5, 10, or even 15 more years, this will be the time most remembered.

New photos from tamashii:

That 1st picture is perfection.

I think it would have been a great opportunity for Tamashii Nations to release the face in the 2nd picture with no pupils. I'm not a fan of the side-looking face.

That's an awesome haul, Orbital! What do you think of all of them?

I do believe it's getting to the point where Tamashii needs to consider a certain amount of accessories/effects releases specifically for the Dragon Ball Z line. They had a great start with the aura effects and can continue that with different colors. I think it would be a great service by Tamashii to release Scouter Vegeta and Ultimate Gohan's energy effects in the same packaging and with different colors as well.

Super Saiyan Trunks is a great release altogether. Yes, an extra face or two would have been nice, but I don't think it was necessarily needed for this specific release. I would like to see another Future Trunks release, especially Bojack inspired, with extra normal faces and hair sculpts. I still don't feel the hair sculpt at Toy Fair was omitted only in the sense that Tamashii never stated that it would be included.

Whis is a difficult release because it needed to happen but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he were a "shelf warmer" for a good amount of time. He is the first web exclusive that I have no problem waiting to be released stateside.

...That's freaking glorious.

Edited: Now that I think about it, I'm hoping Tamashii uses the Dragon Ball Super Future Trunks as an opportunity to design the normal face pieces compatible to the newly released Super Saiyan Trunks normal head sculpt.
