The amount of repaints coming for this mold is staggering.

As is to be expected with the main character of the series.

I personally like this figure, though I recognize the prototype is better. I'm not the biggest fan of this form though, so that might make this figure slightly easier for me to accept. I'll get him, but I would have much preferred a DBS Goku first. I passed on the RoF Goku and Vegeta because I wasn't in love with the figures, so I'm ready for a super saiyan blue.

I agree. The original prototype was certainly a better representation of the Super Saiyan God design but I'm honestly not against this one as much as I thought I would be. The arms are going to be smaller than most, if not all, Goku releases going forward. The head sculpt is very nicely done although the faces seems to be more rounded than the original prototype as well. It doesn't seem Tamashii Nations was all that invested into this one as much as they should have been. I would be curious to know why.

Well, when you think about it, this is the 1st official transformation of Dragon Ball Super for Goku so I wouldn't be surprised if this were opening the door for more down the road.

So who thinks the first fig of 2018 will be this with black hair?

They can't just repaint the hair black and release it since I believe the SSG hair is slightly different from base form. I definitely think we'll be getting a 2.0 Goku in 2018 though either in DBS or Cell/Buu Saga attire.

The body looks too normal for this form. Unless they make every Goku after this one significantly larger, the body will remain inaccurate. Also the color isn't accurate either. The face doesn't really look like the SSG face too. Like Ang said it looks like they really didn't put too much effort into this. I really wish they went with the prototype as it was perfect in every way imo. They probably settled on a 2.0 Goku mold and simply made an SSG head to fit on top of it. I have a feeling we'll be seeing this mold reused for multiple 2.0 Goku's over the coming years from base form up to SSJ2/SSB. The only one that will vary looks to be the SSJ3 since he's noticeably more muscular.

Ok, I admit there is ALOT wrong with that release. Why use the totally wrong shade for the gi, especially when it's the same colour they know we all hate from the og ssj release? Its not even correct to the manga so where on Earth did they take the color from? Also I dont see any difference in the arms, I dont know where you are getting that from. This is a repaint plain and simple, and not even a good one.

I will still buy it of course, but I'm not best pleased with tamashii and their lack of any effort with this release right now.

Ok. I don't like that SSG Goku and never really liked that form anyway. I won't buy it.
I need that Goku 3 though....

We saw not only 1 but 2 prototypes, no more than 3 weeks ago, at the World Tour Event so they were to be expected as the final product as soon as Shonen Jump Calendar revealed its release date in October*. It should have been given more effort but, cost effective wise, it makes sense. It does have thinner arms and neck compared to Super Saiyan 3 Goku. (Super Warrior Awakening Goku as well since Super Saiyan 3 Goku appears to have the same arms.) Other than the normal sized body, it reminds me of an articulated Banpresto DXF Super Saiyan God Goku.

Since we're back to posting our collections, here's a terrible look at mine (lighting is bad and my phone takes bad pictures) :

Hoping to one day make time to create some dioramas but I'm okay with it so far. I started the collection with SH Figuarts but I also mix and match with other similar scale figures that share the same kind of look, I try to avoid lower quality figures from old brands (except the obvious terribad Janemba) but some are impossible to find in the proper scale and some are a smidge off scale but get a pass.. I'll keep updating it as I gather more characters!

The displays so far show the Saiyan / Namek saga on one shelf, the Android / Cell Saga on another, the Buu Saga on the third, and the last is Dragonball Super mixed with movie characters. The lighting is terrible so you can't really see Spopovich, Dodoria and a few other characters but they're there. If you have any questions for the figures I'm showing here, let me know and I'll try to answer them. :)

Outstanding collections, guys. After joining this forum I immediately ran a search for "Dragon Ball Z Figuarts collection" and, to my disappointment, only Snake Plissken's collection thread appeared in the results. It's as though you folks read my mind. :yess:

It's probably pretty old. My DBZ collection has grown quite a lot. I got everything released now but the last three, which I'm getting later in the week finally.

Yeah. I used to post a lot in here, but kinda faded away from DB in general. But, I'm still in for collecting the entire line. I luckily own all the exclusives up to Kaioken Goku, which I hope is at SDCC.

I hope so. I don't intend to buy the figure but if it's this year's SDCC exclusive, it'll at least be more affordable/widely available for those who do.

I'm looking forward to the photos!

I will sound weird....but I don't care that much about the exclusives....

The only exclusive I cared about was the Arlian Vegeta but never got it.

I should take some pictures of my collection, but I recently moved and also bought new showcases and I only got just a few of them out of my boxes...So I'm not ready yet.
Here are the figures I got out of my boxes:
