I would rather them allow us to do more shading tricks or adding brighter or dimmer/ lighting effects. I want shading, just not weird things like the random semi-burn tan of SSJ3 Goku or the orange eyebrows and candy corn hair on the SDCC Goku.

Finally joining the thread... I've been following it for years and I'm a huge fan of DBZ...
Hav any of you guys watched DBZ right after Dragonball? I'm doing so and as much as I'm a fan of the Faulconer OST, the Japanese music makes it feel a lot more like Dragonball's successor, especially Saiyan Saga!

First Preference:

Yamcha with Puar. No decently articulated figure of Yamcha in his orange fighting gi has EVER been made, so I'd like one. He's a character that appears in over 200 episodes of DB, DBZ, and DBGT so he's not just a minor character who appears in 2 fights like, for example, Gogeta. Similar to the SS Gohan figure, he should come with two hair style options: Saiyan Saga long hair and Cell Saga spiky hair. Puar absolutely needs to be included and she does not necessarily need articulation other than perhaps a moveable head, arms, hips, and tail.

Second Preference:

Tien with Chaozu. Tien has more techniques than any other Z Fighter (he might actually have more than Goku) and thus could be given really cool poses. Solar Flare/Taiyoken, Tri-Beam/Kikoho, Multiform, Dodon Ray/Dodompa, etc. A really cool figure of him deserves to be made, either shirtless or wearing his green one-shouldered top. Chaozu should be included with him since they were basically inseparable. As for how articulated Chaozu would need to be, I don't really care. I just want him to be to scale with Tien and Yamcha and wearing his light blue tanktop with either black or green pants.

By the way, if you haven't seen it yet, over on Dragon Ball Figures we have two polls still going on. I have already sent the results to Tamashii, but I'll be sending them updated results again eventually since the polls are still receiving votes.

This poll is basically for showing the next 5 characters fans would like to see made. By limiting it to 5 choices, it helps force you into thinking about which characters would fit in with the previous/current releases as well as the prototypes we've already seen (or, you can just pick your favorites, it doesn't really matter):

In this other poll, you get 15 choices. Because you get more choices, you can pick nearly all of your favorites and the results of this show who is a popular character and who is not. For example, just because you don't vote for Master Roshi (just a random example) as one of your 5 in the previous poll, doesn't necessarily mean you don't want him made. This poll allows you to show that you do want a certain character even if you don't think this character fits in with the previous/current figures and prototypes. Specific to me, I want the entire Ginyu Force made (all 5 characters), but I didn't vote for any of them in the poll where I could only choose 5 characters because I prefer others first.

If it's against the rules for some reason to post these links, sorry, but on the bright side, we link to sideshowcollectors fairly often on DBF, so traffic back and forth benefits us both.

Like you, and apparently a lot of people want Post Time Chamber Trunks. Being that he's not on there, maybe less people want the androids. If we get Post Time Chamber Trunks, my want for the androids, shoot up because, Post Time Trunks is going to Trunks' place and he's going to be in a set up with the Twins. If might have inspired more people to want a Imperfect Cell for the epilogue scene. Or they might think, might as well get Android 16.

Majin Vegeta isn't on that list either, which might inspire people to get Fat Buu for "Final Attonement". They may want Vegito more, after having his Buu Saga look for a fusion pose with Goku. They might want training with his son, so it boosts a Trunks and Goten 2 pack, or for Final Attonement. Someone on the poll voted for SSJ2 Goku, which may have inspired that. A lot more people might want Super Buu and Kid Buu because of him. I can keep going!


These things could completely change the lists, if most people on that list had Tien, Yamcha, and Bardock in their fifth place.


Or just limiting the Great Saiyaman to only his helmet and mask, when other people like Cartoon and myself are really interested in his unmasked looks. Maybe it would make people want Dabura and Fat Buu more. Or they might want Videl.

Mr. Satan isn't on the list, which certain people really want. That could have made more Majin Buu Votes or Videl votes, which leads into more Saiyaman looks.


I don't think you're getting an accurate measurement of what people want, if you limit people like that.

Welcome! Yep! Three times! I love it! I like the silent moments. I think I like the Faulconer OST with the english better, because it's a little more over the top acting, so it fit much better. The English with Japanese felt really lacking to me. With the Japanese is sounds great. I love the silent moments. I'm talking about Kai, I haven't seen the original DBZ with the Japanese music, only the English. Once it gets the Android Saga, the Faulconer music really shines, but everything else is awesome as well.

Branjita is a long term member on proboards, and as much as I respect his customs, is the main player for "minor characters" instead of those more needed.

Sorry, but there was so much wrong with their poll; the lack of supposed wanted characters like Trunks and vegeta, the inflated want for characters like Yamcha, and the picking by list all make it a very unfair poll imo.

For the third time in a row I completely agree Bane, but I expressed this criticism a whiiile back and his defence was he tried to follow the tamashii poll but just added more characters. Eventually I just stopped. I don't care about their poll, I care about ours because it's the fairest version imo. All it requires is some hand counted tallying, not much of a problem.

In general though, as Ive expressed before, the entire discussion is becoming weary because it's basically just a question of which direction will they go? Keep android, go buu or go pre-android? I think the Buu era is innevitable so I've given up trying to fight that. I just hope 2014 will still see 17/18 and Tall Trunks and then Im okay with them going full into Buu mode. I don't think they could do android 16 anywhere near justice in terms of scale (hes taller than Nappa, easily), so Ive crossed him of my list.

I stick with what I suggested earlier: 17,18, tall trunks, buu,majin vegeta, a buu period gohan and gotenks(orgoten+trunks). Just seems most overall reasonable next lineup of releases imo.

Actually Id recommended Bran a 2 pick poll way before ours here so it truly foccussed what people actually want most (and I still think Im right that it would make a character like bardock plummet massively) and would give him a shot to add the characters missing from the other. He seemingly didn't take to the idea.

I would love to see characters like Yamcha and Tien get made, I think it would be fantastic and very special. I think they would work pretty well as a two pack. At this point I think Tamashii needs to expand the DBZ line and offer a two pack or oversized figure a year on top of the five single figures. Even if they are SDCC exclusives. Nappa for 2014, Tien and Yamcha for 2015. Since both are mainly Western market wants. If MMPR can get US exclusives that are regular release (female Yellow Ranger), then why can't DBZ get US exclusives. Come on Bandai, realize that you can increase sales for DBZ with US exclusive figures. Get them in our hands. For every Goku that the Japanese market wants, we've got the same number of people here who want Majin Vegeta. If Japan doesn't want it, but we do, why make us suffer? Why not take a chance and test our market and see if we can support an exclusive non-SDCC figure release? If it works.. go with it.

The problem that minor characters pose is sales; sure, hardcore collectors will buy them (heck if they do get made ill buy them, despite my moans) but overall I can guarantee sales will be rubbish. The majority want big players like saiyans, bluefin themselves stated it.

The difference between yellow PR and the likes of Yamcha and tien is that yellow was pretty much demanded by most of the fanbase; T and Y are only liked by hardcore fans.

all tamashii care about is sales, and if sales drop then theres every chance tamashii will just end the line.

I wouldn't say there is a huge gap between the yellow female ranger and Tien & Yamcha. Especially from Japan's perspective. We're still talking about a female figure in the US market, which is generally seen as a hard sell.

I wouldn't exactly say Power Rangers are more popular than Dragon Ball. What it is now it pretty much a kids show, and well, it always was moreso than Dragon Ball. I think the collector market are only really interested in the original MMPR figures, and that's only really getting attention at the moment because of the anniversary. No more than DBZ actually. Red Ranger, Green Ranger, White Ranger, Armored Red, and Pink Ranger. Five. It's essentially treated the same as Dragon Ball. It's not really any more popular, the market is probably the same as Dragonball, if not smaller overall. It will be interesting to see how well the figures do once the first season aka Zyuranger is done. Hype man, it's a has a big push right now, the iron is hot. That's the thing, the anniversary has done a lot for the franchise.

If Battle of Gods was released here, and they finally got the Kai version of the Buu Saga out, then pushed for some sort of "anniversary" you would probably see an increased interest in DBZ as well. So considering what's going on DBZ is doing incredibly well, MMPR has nothing on DBZ normally in America. Japan, yeah, Sentai is huge. Z is moderate, as it's an old cartoon there not a long running drama that is just normal to them.

Well, I voted for Kid Goku on the official Tamashii poll, which had "Mystic/Ultimate Gohan" as an option, so I didn't completely betray him! He'd be so awesome with Nimbus! Hey, at least he was an option on that limited poll, so Tamashii was pushing for it even more than other popular characters.
