Thing is, they are too lazy to change the knee articulation from single joint to double joint like the later release (Trunks, Krilin etc). I hope they fix this.

I kind of prefer the old joint tbh, it hid the joint completely when the figure stands, and isnt even that bad if the knee is bent. IMO the way they did Trunks and Krillin doesnt look good standing and doesnt even look better than the old way bent; Cells only works because it accomodates the knee armor, but Krillin and Trunks wear trousers so it just looks off.

Yeah. I also prefer the old knee joint. I'm glad they didn't change it on the upcoming Goku figure.

I'm surprised no one has attempted a Raditz custom using Classic Saiyan Armor Vegeta with SS3 Goku's hair, repainted of course. Would love to see that (Hell, I'm still waiting for an official Figuarts Raditz)

I really hope they release 17 and 18 in the Summer sometime. And I don't understand the logic of creating a full-scale Nappa prototype just to troll the fans by saying they have no plans on releasing him. If they're so concerned about sales like they say, then just put him out in extremely limited quantities so only us die-hard collectors will purchase. I don't see any risk in that approach, so wtf.

My first post, by the way :D

thats just how most companies roll, build up interest. if they see a poor interest it's a no go.

Been following this thread for a while, and recently bought my first SHfiguarts figures of Scouter Vegeta, SSJ Goku and Piccolo.

Opened all three, and my Scouter Vegeta seems to have very wobbly leg joints. The joint that is the problem is the one that connects the hips to the legs. They are so wobbly that it makes the figure unable to stand in any pose, and the legs drop back to the body's midline if they are extended beyond any straight facing position.

Any pointers on how to make the joint more stiff? Or should I ask for an exchange?

it's not an exclusive problem so an exchange would be pointless so here are your answers :wave

Blowdryer, hottest setting, 20-30 sec, youll arm poppin problems will be gone! Just did it a few days ago with vegetas arms, those are soft plastic, just some warming up, like real muscles, and done.

I'd also like to know the details bout that nail polish trick as my 2nd saiyan vegeta had abysmal legs.

Oh Frankie that's wicked!

Yeah, that's what I did - make sure you give it a decent amount of time to harden off though, otherwise it'll peel straight off when you try and pop the leg on and you'll have to do it again... I still wouldn't say the leg joints on my Vegeta's are as good as some of my other DBZ figuarts, but it is a big improvement - mine have no problems standing or staying where you put them (if on the stand). Besides these QC issues it is still a completely awesome figure for me, and probably second only to Cell for me personally, although I do wish Cell was a bit taller...

I also recommend you apply it pretty thinly, let it dry (I found it needed an hour or 2 for the stuff I used to harden properly, otherwise it came off) and try it first before putting too much on - I think I may have only had to do one coat if I remember correctly. I did find that you can scrape it off fairly easily if you make a hash of it so it's pretty hard to screw up, although some polish may harden more than others... I guess you could apply the nail polish to either the ball or the socket, but the ball is probably the easier option and is more likely to avoid too much build up.

I thought you might tackle a sword effect Frankie, im using figma links effect myself.

Also, I know its frowned upon, but VERY slight dabs of superglue on the balljoint works far better than nail polish, which always seems to flake off after a few movements. Superglue fixed my SDCC Gokus floppy head, Vegetas legs and my red buster sentais legs. Just a tiny dab to coat the balljoint then let it dry completely before seeing if it works.

Thanks for the reply!

In regards to the superglue or nail polish, will either of these methods still allow the leg to rotate or change positions outwards/inwards? Never used nail polish, but especially with the superglue, I would think that would eliminate any further position changes, right?

Very excited for these figures, got Cell, Frieza, Gohan and Trunks ordered already!

A figuarts custom SS4 Goku just appeared on ebay; looks not bad for the price, but I cant screengrab on mobile so cant get pics lol.

Oh, and incase anyone uses the superglue method, I doubt anyone would forget to pop the leg off the socket before attempting it, and leave it to dry before reattaching, but just incase, dont weld the parts together :lol

I use the ebay app, no links, but I can tell you its in the Uk, and the title contains the words custom, super saiyan 4, and son gokou

Excellent custom, although imo could use a bit more polishing here & there.

All Dragon ball S.H figuarts have double hinge knee joints.
Goku Gohan, and Piccolo just have a superior design that hides it better. But the pivot count, and range of motion is the same.

They're all Double Hinges. Just look at the backs of their knees.

I used chaos black of Citadel paint (Warhammer paint) and put one point in the carved pupil and then with a bistoury gently remove the leftover paint and this is the result

Thanks for giving me the little nudge I needed to finally man up and take the brush to this figure! Of all the little things that annoyed me about this figure, the eyes were by far the most frustrating. I had been postponing the inevitable, seeing as I was scared I might not be able to restrain myself from entirely repainting the figure. I've got to say the urge was very strong to repaint his sash and bands as well. I could've sworn I owned brushes as small as size 000, but the smallest I could scrounge up was a size 0. It certainly got the job done but it was a little difficult to see where the paint was actually going. I think they turned out alright, or at least they don't appear to be any worse than the factory painted iris.

While I do agree with everyone that this figure being in desperate need of a better paint job, I do have to acknowledge that it is still a killer figure.

I just swapped the body with SSj Goku and SSj3.

By doing this, it reminds me of the old bandai "Perfect Son Goku" from the ultimate battle collection line. And it makes SSj3 Look AWESOME.
(to body swap, you have to pull out the whole neck with the head attached <thank blood for the tip>)
