Does anyone else find that wanting a figure and getting it feel better than when you finally have the figure in hand?.

I think that is probably true of all figures, and also that it cuts both ways. Some are exactly as you imagined them, some less so. But indeed the anticipation of waiting for them to arrive may be part of the buzz.

It does happen the other way round too. My Hot Toys farmboy Luke was a figure I only really required to complete a display, I suppose I wasn't expecting so much. Now he is one of my favorite figures.

See that Hasbro is improving its quality is something good for the 1/12 collector community. The good thing about the Black Series is the sculpt. They are really good, because they are modeled in Zbrush, allowing a level of detail and almost perfect fidelity. The problem comes with the materials and paint finishes.
Still, I'm pleasantly surprised with, for example, Jango Fett. If that is the standard of quality from now, keeping the price 20-25 €, I myself will have a serious problem to focus on one collection.
The issue is that I have a bunch of OT characters in Black Series and replace them all with S. H. Figuarts or Mafex could take five or six years, quietly. It's a bit frustrating.
There is also the fact that, by scale and proportions, S. H. Figuarts can not mix well with Black Series. The Mafex have the scale of Black Series, but the proportions of Figuarts. It is very noticeable in the size of the hands and heads.
Everything seems a conspiracy to end up collecting all brands.
To focus a bit, I decided to separate Figuarts as an alternative collection and follow Black Series collection if they continue to improve in quality.

Hasbro doesnt improve its quality Kunanuk, they show amazing prototype hand painted figures then ship poorly painted soft plastic rubbish for lack of a better phrase. Thats fact.

Since I am almost positive we have all already went through this with you before thats all im saying on the matter.

Does anyone else find that wanting a figure and getting it feel better than when you finally have the figure in hand? I wanted Obi Wan and I got Obi Wan, but, now I have him in hand I can't help feeling underwhelmed somehow. Could it be because I had to pay a customs fee? Could it be because I practically knackered his saber getting the hands on it!? (I managed to yank out the blade and nearly snapped the peg off!) I don't know.

Perhaps I'll feel better when I get him together with Maul and they're dueling, we'll see, it's not like he isn't a great figure, he is, the heads are the best I have so far. I suspect that'll change when I get Mace, but, I'm just not excited about Obi Wan, and I thought I would be....
I know exactly what you mean.

Sometimes it's like getting a KFC. The wait for the meal Is better than the meal itself. (Then you get the trots after) :lol

I must admit paying customs charges and then having to prise sabers into hands, making it feel like you are wearing the newness off the figure as soon as you've got it, can sometimes put you on a bit of a downer. Plus you get so hyped up waiting for it, by the time the shower of ****e that is parcel force have delivered it, the excitement is gone a bit.

Sometimes you literally get excited about the next Thing as soon as you open something new :lol

I find the Jedi costumes from the PT a bit bland. You can have a stellar figure but it's *literally* beige.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I think that was why Samuel L Jackson had the colour of saber blade he did, he wanted to stand out. The Sith were basic black too, but, they had a bit more variety.

Phew, it's not just me then,

The weather doesn't help either, it gets so hot in my room that my figures wilt and posters and post cards fall off the walls onto them. Vader and Luke have been left in the heap where they fell as they'll only fall over again when I try and stand them up. If I open my windows wide, wasps and bugs get in and they like to either buzz around me or land on things I can't swat. I love Britain when it's grey and wet! I know!

As for excitement, well, that's centered around the Figuarts Harley Quinn, regardless of the movie being good or bad, Margot Robbie looks so hot in her costume and the figure is literally her but 12 times smaller. I can't wait to get her, she's on eBay right now, but, I don't want to pay over £60 for her......

Since I'm in the U.S. the prices are pretty good, as far as shipping goes, so I can't complain about that. But I feel the same way sometimes. There are times when I think "what's the point of doing this", then other times where I love just looking at the shelves and seeing all the figures I have.

I try to spend on figures that are at least going to be worth something, this way if I ever decide to sell them, then I can get a great return.

I actually really dig that Obi Wan figure. I originally bought Darth Vader, and only wanted him. Then Obi Wan got in stock months later and I had a coupon code, so I just ordered him just for the hell of it, and it made me start collecting the rest of them. Still can't believe I dropped $175 on the Scout Trooper, but it's an awesome looking figure.

Oh yes, I remember. But actually there were just a few members in the hassle, not "all we".
Referring to that in your comment is totally unnecessary. That shows you as a resentful person. If you don't like some members opinion, don't try to exalt yours. Like the last time, I just came to say what I think.
Being a veteran here doesn't mean you are the master, nor a better qualified person. You are exactly like me, not best or worst.
Now, please, forget me. Don't read my comments, don't try to discuss with me.

Buy what you can afford I guess. Buying Figuarts works within my budget along with the other stuff I collect. If Black series quality is acceptable and within the confines of what you can afford, then go for it. At least you are aware of what is superior in quality.

They'd be sold in Japan only. No point for them to showcase at sdcc. But it seems they displayed some of their samurai variants this year

Licensing permits the Samurai line AKA Movie Realization Line to be sold in the US, but Hasbro will never allow the regular Star Wars Figuarts to be distributed in the US.

would really like to get into this line, however, £40 (approx - for kylo) + £20 shipping to sweden from Japan is breaking my heart.
(and thats before any potential run in with customs duty.)

Maybe I'll feel better when I start posing him, I have a fun pic in mind that may lift my mood. I don't have time to do it right now though. I have Mace on the way too and I know I'll be happy to have him.

I just want to keep all the figures I get, to make up for what my folks denied me in '77, '80 and '83.

Who are you buying from? All the Figuarts I've bought have had free shipping and as far as I know the duty I pay is VAT which I'm not sure would apply in Sweden.

My figures are in the most generic poses. I've been too lazy to properly pose them. I have to put more shelves up. Should be getting Luke sometime early next month, and I just ordered the Baton & Shield FO Stormtrooper.

Still need to get around to getting the original Trooper, Clone Trooper, Shadow Trooper, Battle Droid, and I guess the regular FO Stormtrooper

No, last time you came here spouting that black series was better and all that rubbish, and the entire thread was apart of it, not just a few, and you werent stating it as opinion then either. Making me out to be the bad guy here is pretty funny honestly, when what I stated is indeed, fact.

You forget that this is a figuarts thread, so coming in here whenever Hasbro fires out another figure trying to point out how good it looks and how much cheaper than figuarts it is isnt "respectful" as you put it. THAT is forcing opinion on others.

Now as I said, im done.
