Power Rangers looks to be bringing in about 40.5 million this weekend. It's higher than the studio expected, so that's good news.

I love Angry Joe's reviews. :lol

Rarely do I see him not bash something, but he did admit Power Rangers wasn't as bad as he thought it was going to be, which means this is a success. :lol

According to Box Office Mojo, they predict this will do around $100 Million domestically by the time its run is done here in the U.S. - but it could be as high as around $125 Million.

Internationally, it bought in $18.7 Million in 62 markets, but the biggest markets internationally have yet to release it.

Oddly enough, no release set for China, which I would like to think would be big, especially with a strong presence from Ludi Lin. (That guy did a great job in this film.)

Oh God, please no. :slap

I don't get how everyone defends problems in this movie by saying "Well it was made for the fans".

Which fans? I'm a fan and I hated it. It more or less ruined and/or changed everything I loved about the original show.

And gender swapping the most popular ranger character of all time just to fill a diversity quota would just confirm that fact.

But bro... we'll get a hot chick man.... think, THINK!

:lol You're an instigator. :lol

Im serious. Green male ranger means 4 males, that always made the show a sausage fest.

A cute hot green ranger like rita would be the best, i mean.... gender equality right? :hi5: yeah, yeah... green girl ranger for positive role models, yeah... :clap. :naughty:wacky:naughty

The Avengers only has 2 girls as well. Whats your point?

I definitely understand both sides of the coin, but after thinking about it, Tommy needs to be cast as a guy, in my opinion. I think going female would be them inappropriately going out of their way to create something that doesn't need to be changed. If you add a ranger and want it to be female (which I'm fine with), don't make it Tommy. Make it another ranger.

I got to finally see it and I'm legitimately shocked that I liked it as much as I did. Like, I really liked it. And to my further surprise, everyone in my group that came with me liked it too. Even the harsh critic that I was sure would hate it. The whole setup with Rita being a freaky ocean mummy was awesome. I loved the 5 rangers and seeing them form their bonds during the movie in a way that felt earned. Zordon got more character than he ever has before and Alpha was consistently great to have around.

How? I was totally prepared to flush this one down the drain and now I'm thinking about seeing it again. I cant say how well it will impact people who are not in my age range, but for me, it brought to life a lot of what I imagined when I watched this as a child.

I'm certainly not without complaints but as far as I'm concerned, they actually pulled it off and I'm anxiously waiting for a sequel. I'm hoping word of mouth gets around on this one because the critics crushed it, but consistently the regular joe opinions I see are on the positive side.

Glad you enjoyed it and I agree. I think this is one of these movies that knowing the source material (even a little) goes a long way, and I think many critics didn't appreciate the effort this movie made, which is unfortunate.
