Just wondering are the sabretooth and the wolverine meant to be kinda like a set? I thought it was but the base don't look matched. Anyway ordering both.

Yes... that half base really is taking some points off the base

Saw this today, really makes a great set with Wolverine.

Got no bad/complaint for this Sabertooth. He is the best for this char. And there's the fabric version if one choose to hunt it down, giggles.

look like enlargement from bowen
Sure if someone resculpted the entire statue and put in high quality details especially in the face and somehow bent the polystone into a good action pose instead of the constipated look from the bowen then yeah...exactly like a larger version of the bowen :rolleyes2

This piece is one of the highlights of the show so far. It will look great next to Wolvie.

Wolvie's base doesn't look rustic enough...one may think it was cut off by some high powered laser beam.

I think it does, but I see your point. There's definitely a part with some weathered older wood that looks like it has been a broken bridge for a while though.

For me personally, this piece is second only to Red Sonja at the CON. This is an outstanding looking Sabes statue.

For me, this sabertooth was, on it's own merits, my fanboy love of other things aside, the best looking thing I saw at the sideshow booth.

It's a great looking piece, without a doubt. I just wish I liked the brown Wolvie PF as much as I like this. In order for me to PO this, I have to get Wolvie too. They are basically a matching set for me. Don't want one without the other and right now, I just can't bring myself to pull the trigger on the brown Wolvie.

That base just frustrates me, like... it makes Wolverine and Sabretooth feel as though they're part of a series, like they're meant to be bought and displayed together. But what if I only want one of them? I just have to deal with the weird, aesthetically-clashing base without being able to justify it by having a second statue that has the same look.

If that silver bit were missing, this would look much better as a standalone piece and offer greater versatility in being able to be displayed with other characters that also have specific environment bases. Cap and Wolverine? Sure, why not? Hulk and Wolverine? Sounds good.
With that silver, however, it just stands out from the others. I mean yeah, I could be completely over-analyzing the implications of the base, but IT JUST LOOKS SO OUT OF PLACE. Why did they put in the effort to include that? Why couldn't it have been more rock? Or wood? I've been unable to order this, despite wanting it, solely because of the damn base. Everything else -- minus the narrow belt -- is absolutely perfect. And hell, I don't mind the belt half as much as the base (if that's not clear yet :lol ).

:goodpost: Been echoing this sentiment with every doggie bowl base Sideshow tosses under seemingly every statue they release lately.

You guys really take the Bottom of the base that seriously? I mean I could maybe understand if all he was standing on was some disc, thats kind of lazy but this is just a base bottom. It just raises the rest of the statue up. I mean if the color is bothering you could always paint it black I guess but to me its just a danger room homage. One more element of the X-men added in to kinda finish off the statue. I just don't see the big deal

I'm paying for it, why wouldn't I take it into account? Especially if it's an eyesore? Granted, in this case I don't think it looks too bad I agree with you but others obv dont. On others pieces like the IM Maquettes and the Br Wolvie the bowls look outright hideous.
