I have this on preorder flex. Can't wait. Had been eyeing the weta one, but with the recent SS discount that pushed me over the edge. Now I keep thinking he will be lonely without the dark rider. The pics from that other thread are crazy nice.

All these people talking about getting 25/10% off are making me mad! haha. Paying full price and a extra £200+ in postage and tax sucks

I'm literally TERRIFIED of this selling out before I can afford to lay down an initial flex-payment...every time I see another member has put down an order for this guy I become increasingly nervous :panic:

I'm gonna be struggling for at least another month or two after falling behind with other payments because of the DR arriving the same month as a MASSIVE car-service bill....AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!! Sometimes I absolutely DESPISE the fact that I need a car to get around :gah:

Anyway,as I'm fairly new to the collecting game, what do you guys think? What are the chances of this selling out in the next few months?

I could see it selling out in the next 3-4 months. I'd get things in soon and the payments for mine were $90 so they're not too bad really.

Personally I think he'll be around for a while possibly even until the end of the year. I think the common consensus is that the DROM is one of the best PF's in the line and possibly the best PF this year to come out. At 500 pieces for the Exclusive it's still not sold out. 500 is a fairly low number even at $799.

Sauron at 1500 pieces and more expensive still means that a few things are happening.

1) Nobody can afford both so they opted for one or the other.

2) People are waiting to see how the paint job looks on Sauron.

3) There's too much expensive stuff coming out at one time.

With Galactus, The Hulk Maquette, DROM, Legendary figures of Wolf/Wolverine etc etc I think it's just a combination of all of these things. Sideshow's site is pumping out a lot of lines. When you chuck in the Star Wars Mythos line, Batman and Superman, TONS of Hot Toys, that's a lot of product.

When you get into 4 figure sums and 3 foot statue's the customer base shrinks rapidly into either die hard's only or people with a lot of extra income. Purchasing a piece like this is not a light/easy decision! Not like a $350 PF or Statue.

The only reason I booked mine early was because the flex pay really helps me forget about how wildly expensive these pieces are.:thud:

Well said, that's exactly it for me. RWOS, Conan and Batman were my big buys this year and it really adds up. I'm trying to get as many points before I decide on this as that could make a big dent in the price for me, which makes this totally worthwhile. Just hope it comes out well and is available later on. If not, I have my Dark Rider...:)

On the website it says the minimum flex is $240 a month?

It gets larger and larger the closer we get to shipping. Also I think Sauron will be around for a while. DROM is cheaper and a smaller ES and is still available.

Bottom line for me anyway. I think this one has the potential to be the greatest Lott piece ever made. That's how I feel about this piece. Only a bigger scaled piece would conquer this one and am so glad I owe only 2 more 90 flex pays

I do have to say, the thought of having Sauron, Dark Rider & Barad-Dur is REALLY appealing.
I'd have build a custom Middle Earth shrine (display :) ), it would be worth it for those 3 alone.

Remember,I've said before that the equivalent would be like having the Emperor, Darth Vader and the Death Star in regards to Star Wars. That's a powerful group of characters

I had ruled out Sauron at $900. Then that coupon came along and pulled me in. I went back and looked at those amazing SDCC pics thinking I got this badboy at 25% off. Then my flame got smothered out when SS cancelled it. 10% off had me tempted but I decided to pass. I may end up getting it down the road though.

Yes, great analogy spot on. The last one for me to consider would be Smaug.
I've got time for that...:yess:

I have it all planned out. :lol
