True dat!! It's because nobody wants to put the finances and time together for a customized figure. They all want instant gratification, something that Hot Toys and Sideshow will provide.

Somebody wants to put in their finances and time together for customized figures. Mainly it's the freaks who want a stadium full on apes! :baicon6:

Hey!! Look what I thought to do today! This is Apethoven's ape mask on a Hot Toys gorilla!! He unbelievably has very gorilla-like features!!! He just needs eyeballs and a forehead removal...

That's who I used for this gorilla remember? I also added more hair to his head a few weeks ago. Remember those pics? These pictures taken many months ago.

Jessica, if you have some clay or sculpy, you could probably just push his face in the clay and carfeully pull it back out. Then pour some liquid resin in the clay... presto! A new mask you can work on to add/change his features!

Super cool idea, Angel! I have to order stuff before the sale ends at Micromark (Tuesday's the last day to order!)...since I can't find my liquid resin. :monkey2

I didn't recognize the gorilla you did because he has an open mouth...and also because of the added hair you sculpted--he's virtually your own creation!! :banana:banana:banana

Sounds like you're going to have your own creation also!

If the guys actually pull themselves together, I'm going to have to place a order with MicroMark too. I'll have to spend at least another $37 in additional supplies in order to make the camera. I'm glad I've got enough resin on hand. You better get to that once a year sale! Only a couple days left!

I saw some interesting stuff at Wal-Mart while buying that gallon of Bondo today. They had this "liquid metal" stuff in a toothpaste-like tube. I saw that and thought it had some really neat possibilities. Making an outdoor human cage would be a snap with this stuff! Use some steel wire (about coat hanger thickness) for the bars of the outdoor cage and then tie it together with that thin green wire that florists always use. Then use the "liquid metal" stuff in the toothpaste-like tube to coat the crossing sections of bars and cover up the tied wire sections. You could even paint the extra "liquid metal" stuff all over the cage for a rougher look. Once it dried, it could be painted up to look really cool!

What do you use bondo for? and what is it?

That human cage sounds EXCITING!!!

I'm going to buy a product and see if my theory works for recasting the gorilla boots. I will need a ton for my army.

Jess, Bondo is a rezin paste used most often for auto body repair, though it is also used quite a bit in the product development industry. It is fairly easy to use, versatile and smells terrible. It is also fairly easy to find, being available at most auto parts stores(do they have PepBoys on the left coast?)...PS

I plan on using the Bondo for 2 things: The staircase that leads up to the doomsday bomb and also for the Statue of Liberty. I'll need more than a gallon, this is just to get me started.

It would be a cool project, but it would also be very low on my to do list. Hopefully, someone else tackles this.

What's your theory for recasting the boots? You need a ton for which army? Your Mego army? Your 1/6 scale army?

Very good question! I was thinking my 1/6 scale army. I've got tons of headless humans now that I have churned into apes. It's a pity I do nothing with the headless naked bodies. I should clothe all the apes I have churned. I don't know what I'll do with them when I'm done...probably just photograph them...but then I won't have space for a stadium of this magnitude...that's the only downfall.

I'd really like to see enaud's life raft all finished. I wonder when he'll finish up so we can see it? That's something I'd love to have for my collection. Those picture he posted we awesome and he wasn’t even done.

That would surely be a lot higher on my do list than that human cage!
:angelsmil

Oh yeah...Enaud needs to get back into the swing of things! That was a gorgeous raft he created, and to think...it was made out of wood! It looked so freaking great.

Whoot! I pulled the trigger. I just ordered some mold and casting supplies. It's what's been holding me up from my projects.

I also spent some time adding paint to the Mego heads I have been working on. They are looking better now.

Put it in the yard and build a really nice garage around it! You could keep all your crafts, ape pictures, ape posters and other ape toys out there. It's could be Jessica's Forbidden Zone. :)

I think enaud stretched some yellow raincoat material, or some yellow rubber gloves over the wooden frame he had made. He was going to put the flag decal(s) on it along with the “hooks” that held the rope to the raft. I think he was also making the oars himself.

Really? I thought it was just all yellow paint. :monkey4

Hey!! I have an idea for the rubber liferaft! You can buy liquid rubber than comes in a spray can. People use it for coating tool handles...it comes in bright yellow.

You may be right. Hmmmm, maybe I am confused. That's how I would have tackled it so that it would have a rubbery look to it.

Honestly, I don't recall what he did. :monkey3
