I finished making a cast of this other Star Wars guy:

Also, the spraying of plasti dip on that outfit is a real bear~! UGH! It's still not done. The material is fuzzy, so after I spray it down, I have to smooth it down with my fingers. I don't know if I'll be able to finish this project. It's really tough to get it all smooth!

I was hoping not to have to sew that outfit, but I guess I will have to. First, because I think I remember the sleeves being really long, and second, seeing the texture of the weave is driving me ape. The top has more layers of plastidip than his pants, so you can see how rough it is when it's first sprayed. I know that with more layers I could get rid of it, but it will still drive me nuts. I still really love the spectacular paint job. I like this color best for chimp skin. I'm afraid to pull out my modified Zira to compare...One important thing I did learn, though! The plastidip is really great for the vinyl part of the SS chimp outfit. If I can find vinyl this thin, no matter what color, I can always spray it down with plastidip and it will still look like leather. Night and day, guys from before makeover to now. A new outfit will just make him super spectacular.

HEre are the photos I took today:

Caesar is getting a manicure today. Had to set up the timer on the camera to get this shot. I love playing with my dollies. Hmmm!! Maybe I should set up a female giving him a manicure so it's all the same scale! I'll have to remember to do that later...

IM--thank you for my package. Still hasn't arrived yet, but it will definitely keep me busy...and busy is what I need to be.

Look at all those lovely wrinkles on Caesar's face. I'm going to have to try to sculpt him someday too. Snick says my Caesar still doesn't look like Caesar. :monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

Kfog, I have that type of hair, too, as a sample...but I prefer the Mongolian fur because it's more close to the Hot Toys apes...and not as shiny. But you should at least hair up the ape and show us how it looks. Perhaps it will be ok after it's been styled!!

Hi Jess! Where can you find the Mongolian fur?

My friend says it's on Feebay...but it's $26 per square foot. Kinda pricey...but you pay the same or more if you skin a stuffed animal.

I thought he was missing that skin. Looking at it now it's way too cartoony...I should have smoothed it better and not have it stick out so much. gahhhh!!!:gah:

I have reworked him this morning. I think he looks way better! :hi5:

Of course he'll have to travel back to Charles Hughey to get a touch up. I should ask him what colors he used.

OK. I'll cast him. I think it's an improvement of what was offered, and in any case will add more characters to Ape City.

Hi Jess! I agree with IM, he looks just like roddy McDowell as caesar! What a dead on likeness! I also love how you reworked the forehead.:hi5:

Sean, Dr. Milo was one of the firsts I did. I still think he looks good considering he's one of my early sculpts. Maybe I should try to sculpt him again?

Caesar looks much better now Jessica. That's a really good fix! :exactly:

It was hard to imagine how he would look painted, but as soon as he came back I knew I had to tweak him one last time. My heart kind of sank a little when I first pulled him out of the box.

:hi5: Thanks brother ape.

The more I look at Darkness' Julius, and the great job he did on it, I find myself recalling all the old Megos that I had and the variety of colors that the gorilla faces had.
