A great big welcome to you, Sixx! How awful for your fire--that would probably break my heart. I'm not really a collector, more of a crafter. You should invest in a dremel, so you can drill your own casts if you need to.

Welcome Sixx! It's great to have you here with us. I really enjoyed reading about your interests and background. So many of us can relate to you here. We all get excited when new folks join in with us here. I'm sorry to hear about that fire. It's time for you to rebuild and sometimes that comes slowly. Good luck on your quest and please don't be a stranger.

Thanks guys. Yes, it will be a slow road. I never thought of insuring my collection. It was a big heartbreak. But.. I'm excited to be here!

From what I see so far there's alot of custom work being done here, which is great. My heads spinning and I dont know where to start.

If any of you guys have extra things for sale, please let me know.

I would love a custom caesar and slave worker from Conquest. I would also like Gen Ursus & some Ape soilders.

Jess, do you have a list of heads for sale. I think you had a Caesar head. Most of these heads that I see, will they fit on just the Sideshow, or will they also fit on the hasbro?

Do any of you guys make outfits too?
Thanks..

Oooof! Sixx--I just gave away 3 of the only Hasbro bodies because I had to cull my stuff. I think IM would know if my 1:6 ape heads fit or not. I have Dr. Milo, the three Tribunal orangutans, Julius (the smoking ape you saw), and Caesar (which is a reworked Matt Falls sculpt). Those are the only ones that are ready. A dremel would solve the majority of fitting issues.

I make outfits but I don't want to offer because I have to be in the mood. I'd prefer to sculpt, so the best thing I could tell you is to invest in a sewing machine and start small.

That fire sucks. Take it as a learning experience.

As far as knowing where to start--start with what you love the most. I started with Zira and it snowballed from there. Oh yeah...forgot I have Cornelius and Zira available (re-worked Matt Falls sculpt though, so I am not taking any credit for that).

PZ I just saw that yesterday! I thought about getting it. I was even thinking about the ball joints/sockets last night as I was trying to fall asleep....

Guys Julius is ready if anybody cares for him.

Steve and Steven--your packages are leaving Ape City today. Haven't made it to the post office yet but I will get there before they close.

On a totally different note, I started this sculpt but had to destroy it because it was too effing small!! gahhhHH!!! :gah:

I was interested in a Julius if still Available. Do you have any Caesar as well? Do you offer painting services? Lastly, I do not own a dremel, could you make the proper holes for me? Thanks.. Sixx

Jess, I have to be at 10 posts to pm you, so if you have a pic or link to the caesar, I would love to see it. Here's my email.

I would need these to fit on sideshow. Is that what most of you guys use, or do you buy generic bodies. I'm on a budget, so any info would help me. Thanks..

Sixx--Julius basically paints himself, so you just need black paint, brown paint and size 000 paintbrush. The only hard part to painting him are the eyeballs

Here is a photo of the Caesar cast.

Here's the Ceasar head that Jessica re-did. Here it is seen fully painted. See post #17723

BTW Sixx--You don't need a dremmal, I always use a hand held drill with the appropriate drill bit for the neckpost hole.

You know how apes are a small niche? I guess costuming as an ape is an even smaller niche. If you sign up there I will hook you up, and you can enjoy lots of the photos there. It's a great resource, I think...but then, you know...I can never have enough apes and I'm one of the weird exceptions.

As far as conventions--I'm basically geographically stuck in the Bay Area because I would make too many waves with my husband and family (they would really hate it) if I go beyond my immediate area just to dress up. So I'm alway trying to see if there are any brave souls who would go ape with me in full gear for Wondercon.

I also belong to that DG group you mentioned. I think I belong to anything ape related.

I bought most of my red suits on eBay. I painted the boots red to match using an acrylic paint. If you need help, I can point you in the right direction.

Angel,

I would so appreciate the help. Anything yoiu can do would be great.

I'm guessing your into music?
Same here, I've played guitar for over 25 years, and love hard rock and metal. Been to 100's of shows over the years and had the pleasure of meeting lots of bands.

Angel--I didn't see your photo attached to your post. Bummer!

Sixx--you will have to find my Youtube post of me in costume. You will have to search for Piano of the Apes. Don't laugh though because I can't play the piano or read music. It took me weeks to learn those songs in preparation for the last time I was in costume.

Jess,

Thanks I'll join up tomorrow! When I was younger I used to enjoy painting my dungeons & Dragons figures. These heads look bigger, so it should be no problem if I have good reference material.

I will hit you up tomorrow with what heads I would like. I would appreciate your expertise in guiding me to correct colors and brands that you use to paint. Also brush sizes, etc. Do you use flats, gloss, etc? Do you use protective top coat.

I don't know, I am excited I am here.. Gotta run and go watch Conquest on Blueray. I got it as a stocking stuffer from my wife!

Sixx - Keep on the lookout (using eBay) for "red jump suit joe" or "red jumpsuit joe". Try searching both ways because you'll get different results and hits.

The red GI Joe jumpsuits generally sell between $7- $14 on eBay.

When painting the gorillas boots red, I always use Americana Acrylic Paint. [DA199 Primary Red Rouge primaire]

I'll dig up some pictures so you can get a "feel" for the end result.

Stickman - I'll email you all those pictures you've been wanting of ape city. I just pulled them from my son's external hard drive.
