Truthfully, if it wasn't for the freaks I get to see every year, I probably wouldn't go (or at least not as often). That's the biggest reason I go...all the other stuff is icing on the cake. :) And it is awesome to get to talk to the fine folks at SSC and Weta, artists like VanderStelt, Adam Hughes, etc...

What's it like without any accuracy freaks there including no measuring tape and colour charts?

I missed out this year, but I would really like to go sometime. I'm thinking i'll try for it next year. Its crazy how the SDCC turned into a mainstream event.

my bad. Which do you think was longer?

2012 pre reg thursday morning

or

Twilight

I never saw the Twilight line - but the line for tickets went from behind the convention center - along the waterfront to the Hilton hotel (I think that's the one where you got passes for next year). Then once you were inside a big room in the hotel, there were over 1,000 more people lined up.

Oh, I'm sure there are some there - I just don't seem to hang out with any.

Okay Jen- what is vodoun talking about?

Isn't it obvious? :lol

Visit any Hot Toys thread and you'll figure it out. :lol Basically people who nitpick figures saying they are not accurate....like the the clothing is not the right shade or the eyes are .357 cm too far apart.

Those threads scare me. Now that HT is doing Star Wars figures, I will be unable to avoid those posts now. :panic:

Man.. those Tim Tams look sooooooo good. I was planning on attending but then we got invited to dinner and hanging out with some artists, so I couldn't resist the opportunity to get to know and network with some new people.

This would be the only reason I would go. :)

Totally agree man, I just dont get that type of thinking. I guess Im just a much simpler easier to please person. When I see a figure and it looks like what I think its supposed to look like then Im happy. I dont bust out a tape measure and start looking for things that the average person wont even know about. :1-1:

I have the same problem every year since I drive in daily. But driving is a lot more safer for me than taking the trolly--especially late at night/early morning since I'm a female and alone. This year was the first year I was able to stay out late since I stayed at the Gas Lamp. It was great not having to worry about my car being towed.

I also enjoy attending 'cause I get to meet up with a lot of Freaks but I also enjoy walking through the Exhibition Hall and viewing great panels. This was my 8th year attending and each year is a different experience -- all have been great so far and I know next year will be even better since The Hobbit panel will be there.:yess:

Me too. And I'll be hanging around longer next year because I won't park in a stupid parking lot that closes at midnight and starts towing cars.:gah:

The major reason I went first in 2005 was to meet Freaks and Sideshow folks. The Con itself was icing on the cake. I, too, was only going to go once. Been attending ever since. And the reason for going still is to meet the Freaks and Sideshow folks and (more recently) the Weta crew.

The negatives for going to the Con are starting to outweigh the positives. If it weren't for the meet ups, I doubt very much that I would bother anymore.

The con just wouldn't be the same without you!
