I should have prefaced my statements with:

If I could do both and remain financially solvent, I would. Believe me, I hate missing the big daddy of big shows. But hard choices have to be made. At least until I'm making the big bucks irradiating people's private areas...

That doesn't sound like fun. :(

Big bucks is the operative fun sounding statement there.

Although I do want to help people. So it won't be too bad, if I could just get accepted to the damn program.

:gah:

Back to SDCC talk!

I'd like to check out Celebration once. However, like Fury said you gotta pick one and I can't ever see myself picking a Celebration over Comic-Con. Now, if they'd bring it back to say Indy which I could drive to or Chicago which would both allow me to crash at folks places. Then I would be game.

All this talk is getting me more hyped for next year already. :lol

As always I'll try to provide what I can. :lol didn't get ad much up during the show but hopefully made up for it once I got back. Still haven't gotten everything up on my blog yet. :lol

Truthfully, if it wasn't for the freaks I get to see every year, I probably wouldn't go (or at least not as often). That's the biggest reason I go...all the other stuff is icing on the cake. :) And it is awesome to get to talk to the fine folks at SSC and Weta, artists like VanderStelt, Adam Hughes, etc...

I agree with this.

If it wasnt for meeting friends, I probably wouldnt go.

I live in the NW, so the collecting community is really small out here. I get to chat with Averone and go to the Emerald City con (which looks like a farmers market compared to SDCC).

The exclusives can be had online anymore. The sneak peaks of any upcoming projects have pictures on the web by the end of preview night wednesday night. And any video footage can be found on the web somewhere. Everyone has a camera on their phone now.

I go to hang with friends, meet new freaks, and just have a good time. When Im on the convention floor, Im bored if Im walking it by myself. Im usually the first one to text "hey, where r u ?"

honestly, the two biggest, well three biggest highlights of the con:

1. Being a Green Lantern fan, meeting and getting my picture taken with Neal Adams.

2. The Freaks party. I want to meet more people, but I dont drink, so its hard in that setting to do.

3. Party saturday night at Macks house. we flipped his furniture over and and NERF gun wars. His MIL made everyone badass ribs. and we Rockband'd all night. I leaked the smooth milky vocals of A-HA's "Take on me"

none of those three things could have been done at home.

Everyone should go at least once. I talked my wife into letting me go in2008 saying "once in a lifetime" blah blah blah. Ive been going now for 4 years straight

Agreed everyone should go once.

Also I don't drink as well, but every single freak I have had the pleasure of meeting has been non-judgmental and just plain fun to hang out with. So don't let that stop you.

LOL. thats what I was thinking. Didnt Twilight fans start lining up Tuesday night for thursdays panel?

The local media were out there interviewing the Twi-hards on Monday night. I personally don't get the animosity towards them. I don't see the difference between them and a Star Wars geek camping out overnight for a New Hope screening or a a Star Trek geek standing in line for hours for a chance to meet Nimoy. Truth be told, if geeks were as smart as they claim to be, they would go out there and stand in line with them. the man/woman ratio is heavily in your favor :lol

agreed. Which is why I said "twilight fans" instead of "Twi-tards"

plus, I didnt want Jen to junk kick me since I know she was in line

The major reason I went first in 2005 was to meet Freaks and Sideshow folks. The Con itself was icing on the cake. I, too, was only going to go once. Been attending ever since. And the reason for going still is to meet the Freaks and Sideshow folks and (more recently) the Weta crew.

The negatives for going to the Con are starting to outweigh the positives. If it weren't for the meet ups, I doubt very much that I would bother anymore.

I go to spend money, stay in nice hotels, and get the HELL away from work! :nana:

I'm lying - I only go to hang with the Freaks - No other reason

I took this at this years Futurama panel, thought I would share :)

If I could get it working......

You must be talking about another Jen. Thursday morning I was in the long ass line to get tickets for next year. :lol

After missing my first Con in 6 years, I damn well better get tix for next year -- It's HOBBIT year afterall! :hi5: :yess: :hi5: :yess:

I had a family reunion in NY that took priortiy, so I have some make up work to do. :panic: :drink :medic

Does anyone know how I could get ahold of the SDCC people? My dad had to have surgery, so I had to cancel the trip last minute. Anyway, I filled out the refund forms before the con, and still haven't gotten a response yet. I'd like to see what's up or even see if it'd be possible to exchange them for next year's con, but there doesn't seem to be a way to speak with a representative.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.:)
