hells bells.....!!!! Am I the only one who didn't upgrade their registration from last year's presale? Seems I am the only one who will be in line at the Town and Country to get badged on Wednesday afternoon/evening. :(

Nah, Dad will go with you. He will still have to take the bar code there to get it scanned and badges printed.

They sure don't make it easy for someone trying to get tickets for the first time...I know It's sold out for this year, but I don't even know how to go about getting tix for next year...

The preview night tickets didn't sell out until today. There was an extremely limited number available at the show last year. You would have had to be like the first 50-100 people in line and camped out over night starting at around 2 am to get the preview night passes as I talked to folks who got there at 4:30am and waited in line and still got no tickets.

Last year, they sold apx half of the total tix for this year, including half of preview night passes. I got in line on Thurs around 6:00, was about 4,000 in line and I got preview night with about 90% sold out at that point. They had a big score board so you could see what was selling. Everyone who got into the room (which was pretty big) was guaranteed 4 days, but not preview. I was about midway in line. They sold a set amount of tix everyday, but you had to have a valid tix for that day to purchase. Hopefully they will do something similar this year.

Limiting it would work and expanding it over more days would work as well since they are under contract with the San Diego convention center until 2015.

I think they need to really separate the movie premieres and the comic con. Maybe do the weekend before for movies and run the con for the whole week with the following weekend being a repeat for the movie premieres and all the TV/comic/toy stuff.

The city is working on a deal with the hotels to expand the convention center.

I have thought about separating the entertainment with the comics before, but I'm not sure that would work. I don't think the vendors would get the same crowd for purchasing things if it were movies only. I think they are financially reliant on each other. I also thought that if they make the place bigger, they will just sell more tickets so it will be the same crowd by proportion, so it will still be impossible to get to everything.:gah:

Man, I've taken it for granted that I get to go for free every year. This is the first year I feel like its not as easy for pros to get tix. I hope I can still get some!

Hi, what are you a pro at? Can you say or is it not public.

If I ever get stuck without tix, I know I can get hooked up through my comic shop. But that's pretty much a last resort.

my wife ended up as #10,000 something in line and i eventually got in at 40,000...she grabbed her 4 day badge and then they sold out when she tried to get mine...i had to get individual day passes

hotel was a _____..we started calling right after we got passes and everyone was booked. we're going to say on coronado and just take a taxi to the convention center

They haven't put rooms up yet through the con have they? U might be able to get one through them cheaper and closer.

the ones we called said we could try to go through SDCC but we decided to go ahead and book this weekend and get it all out of the way. plus, we have never stayed at the hotel del coronado and since the kids aren't coming along this year it might be, um...what's that word? romantic? yeah, that's it! :)

it's only 2 miles away and right outside the hotel is one of the best beaches in the area. we're really looking forward to staying there :)

also, we stayed at the marriott marquis and marina right next door last year which was cool...both time we have gone we have stayed downtown so it will be nice to stay somewhere different this year.
