i think ss are just extracting more money from us so we get numb to their 500$ baseline price of future pieces.

jokes or not aside

1/2 scale is going to alienate quite a few people.2000$ is bloody ridiculous when they could have sold it for 400$at 1/4 scale.

I hope it bites them in the a$$!

either way it is going to be one killah piece!

Honestly, Im tired of reading posts of people whining about the scale and price. If you cant afford it.....TOUGH BONES......this piece will sell out regardless and the scale is perfect.

Not everything will be made to accommodate ONE collectors needs....theirs a variety with everything in the world.

Thats like saying why doesnt Lamborghini build a $20,000.00 car instead of a $350,000.00 car because not everyone can afford one. Their are neich markets for everything.....if SS made this thing smaller I wouldnt be buying it. If you dont have enough cash.......MAKE MORE.....problem solved.

pssst...FLEX is for whimps LoL:D

Ummmm, have you not been alive for the past year or so and seen how the economy is. Just because you are doing well financially doesn't mean that everyone else is.... And FYI, the majority of SS pieces are items ranging in the $250-350 range. So something like this will be WAY out of the average collector's budget.

So your analogy is pretty incorrect. Lamborghini wouldn't make a $20,000 car. Because it ONLY makes high-priced cars. And THAT is their market. Sideshow has done a pretty good job of making some great pieces at affordable prices. This isn't a very affordable piece for many...

My analogy makes all sorts of scense....of course Lambo would never make a $20k car (egsaduration to make a point). But even Lambo has a price range for their models (to accommodate buyers with different price ranges)....If you cant afford a $350k Murcielago....then you buy the cheaper $200k Gallardo....ect ect. SS is doing the same thing here, this statue wasnt made to target the average collector. SS KNOWS its well out of the average collectors range...but they offer a FLEX plan to those people just to be fair. The customers buying something like this are going to be the same people that dropped $5k+ on the T-800...people with CASH. So dont be offended if SS didnt aim this at the average Joe.

Has the price been confirmed on this $2000?

The only thing that has been confirmed is that it'll probably be 4-6 Flex Payment possibilities. So the speculation of the price is around that high to evoke such a payment plan because the amount of payment available is directly dependent on the final cost of the product.

As for the affordable talk, the fact is whenever you go up in scale you go up in price, its not a complicated equation. Will a lot of people who want this not be able to get this? Yup. Then again how many people wanted the 1:1 Artoo or Threepio? Not to mention for many people when they see the price its not that they can't pay for one piece they see all the pieces that they won't be able to buy because of it.

I do have to agree with Atheris and Mike, different levels of collecting / cost exist.

There are some who can buy 10 of these w/o blinking and eye and some who have to sell half of their PF's or not buy the next 6 PFs for them to be able to afford this one piece. It really comes down to how much you want this item.

Speaking for myself, I very well know that this IM piece is the MAX I can afford for a single item when it comes to collectibles and if SS ever decided to make an even larger scale piece I simply wouldn't be able to afford it....that simple.

Some sacrifices have to be made for me to be able to afford this yet for me these sacrifices are well worth it because I will have a freaking 1:2 scale Iron Man with exquisite detail in my collection.....just WOW!

Now, my sacrifices might not even involve me not buying other Marvel PF's because I may want those too, so it may be me not eating out as much or not going to the movies as much or not buying every action movie released on DVD or not buying another pair of shoes until i'm doing the Flinstone thing with my feet.

I am still in awe over this statue and my fingers are crossed that I'll be lucky to get this.

This totally shines light upon Marvel's Life Size Hulk being sold on the bay for $800, that is THE BEST deal going for a Marvel Statue in the entire world of Marvel statue collecting!

Approx $7.90 per inch at 102 inches for the Hulk vs $43.50 per inch if this IM turns out to be 46" and cost $2,000!

Still, as good as a deal that Hulk is, it's much easier dealing with a statue of IM's size vs a behemoth like the Hulk, hence the cheaper price....because only few will have space for the Hulk.

See, that Hulk is the real deal when it comes to space issues, not this IM.

Oh well, that being said, I don't mind reading other people venting. This is a forum where one can open up about what makes them happy or frustrated when it comes to collecting these items and I know that I have learned so much from just reading many different posts regardless of the opinion being presented.

At the end of the day, there really is no 100% right or wrong answer or opinion and valid points and lessons can be extracted from all different sources.

Bring on IM please, my credit card demands it! To be alive is to be in debt...I wouldn't want it any other way. :)

Thanks for reading.

Absolutely there are going to be different levels of collecting. The longer you collect the more you are inclined to reduce the quantity of your collection and improve the quality. This piece is high on my wish list along with an Alien Warrior 1/4 or 1/3
Scale maquette.

I totally understand the theory biehind paying more for more statue. I thuink it's just the initial reaction of the crowd. $2000 (guessing) will mean more planning on how to obtain the piece, or what to sacrifice. But I still agree, it's a very cool piece.

Maybe someone should start a poll on how much they would be prepared to for for this.:)

I think his proposition was to see wat what pricepoint would you be "out".

All right thanks to the good people of Statue Forum this is what we'll be getting:

According to his website:

After I finished the helmet, and it was sent off to Satan Winston's studio to be molded and cast, I moved on to this sculpture. They wanted a massive maquette of the full Iron Man mark-3 costume, and they wanted it to be over 3 feet tall. I argued against this for a bit as a statuette of this size is not only cumbersome and difficult to armature, it would also take much, much longer to complete, but they were paying me the checks, so they got what they wanted in the end. I think I was given me a month to do it, and I went over that by a week. Maybe I am a slow sculptor, but through all the fighting of the armature (revisions that require tearing the damn thing apart), and trying to work out the proportions and shapes and details, I never really got to take this thing to the finish I aspired to. It was ultimately a tight 'rough' concept sculpt.
They never molded this big boy, so I imagine that it is sitting somewhere in one of John Favreau's garages, crumbling...and crumbling....

So it'll be over 3 feet tall and IS the one from Favreau's Twitter Pics but the second pic of Teeves' piece was not used apparently in the final piece so they ARE two different pieces as someone on this site point out earlier.

Ummm, does any of this info mean that I can buy it now...like this second......I have my credit card handy dandy and it's ready for the whipping and abuse.....its had lots of training...

:rolleyes::naughty:rolleyes:

For those who think Sideshow alienate the average collectors, then I wish this thing costs $10,000 so only the few can afford them with an Edition Size of 100 :chew Why stop at $2,000? Come on Sideshow...raised the price to 10G :)

I'd buy 2....sell one for $20,000 and get it for free :naughty

too funny. LOL

I'll sell my Enzo and buy all 100 of them and then I'll resell them for $20,000 each. And then i'll keep 20 of them and auction them off on eBay with a minimum of $20,000...it should go up $100,000 each for those desperate die-hard Iron Man fans :)

Yeah baby!!! hahaha

Hi Mike, this pic was indeed captured by me from my IM Art Book one month before and it has been shown in this forum and it was not first come from Statue Forum. I pasted the Mark I photo as well. Please check this link. The third pic of this link was saved from my DVD. The maquette is the one we are going to buy.
