The only thing that bothers me about the article is that it says tentatively.

A buddy's dad worked on the first x-files show and movie. hopefully he works on this one so I can get spoiled...and then of course share the spoils here.

Is there anyone that actually cares anymore??

I'd love to see more X-Files, the show going off air was heartbreaking, but I won't support it without Duchovny, Mulder is 1 of 2 key ingredients that make the show great, Scully is the other. I will say, Robert Patrick as Doggett did alright, and had he been the original character/actor of the show, it would have been good, but when you take away Mulder and put him in, it's hard to swallow.

2 Ingredients? I think you mean 3 my friend, lets not forget Chris Carter, the guy was extremely creative. I too loved the show an wouldn't mind seeing another movie installment.

I really liked the first movie.

True enough, but it was really the characters created in Scully and Mulder, I don't think the show or premise would have succeeded without those 2 being what they were made into, they pulled you into the world and sold it.

Sure why not, both haven't done **** since the show and mysteriously fell off the face of the earth.

Duchovny stars in the HBO show Californication. It's great!

And I'm all for a 2nd X-Files movie as long as he's in it.

If Mulder and Scully are in it I'm there, if not then a pass. I was not impressed with the first movie or how the series ended. But there is always room for improvement, especially with how good the show generally was.

I've always felt the end of the show suffered because of Duchovny; if Duchovny had stayed with the show and not been on and off for the last 2 seasons, I think the sign off would have been great, but his departure forced storylines to keep him vaguely in it and for the most part the writers did well, but I think it would have been even better if the original storyline stayed it's course.

I actually loved the series after he'd left. When they brought in Robert Patrick and whats her name as replacements.... it turned into a totally different show.

But in a good way.

It went from being a conspiracy-but-you'll-never-get-any-answers type of show (which had become very stale by then) .. into almost a horror drama. Some of the things they went against were really gory... and scary. And I absolutely loved the tone of the show. I was gutted when it finished. I wanted to get more of this new, second x-files.

Also... with the last few years losing viewers and people's interests, plus nothing much happening afterwards, its easy for people to forget jjust how revolutionary and downright gripping the x-files was as a piece of television.

For the first few years at least it was like there was nothing else on... this was what people were talking about.

So if we get another movie? Cool.... I'll be watching.

I agree, I think what bothered me more than anything was the reversal of roles were Scully became the believer and now Dogget is the non-believer. It was too much of a rehash and felt really contrived. I really wasn't able to watch the show after Duchovny left, the stories just didn't seem to work as well.

This is great to hear - I love the X-Files. I think I first heard rumblings about this a few months back and so far it sounds as though the flick would be a stand-alone monster-of-the-week type story as opposed to a continuation of the end of the series, but who knows.

I watched the series a good bit early on and then really got into it around the time the first movie came out, but by season seven I kind of drifted out. Then last fall I picked up all nine of the seasons on DVD and had a multi-month marathon watching the series from beginning to end. Now whenever I want to watch something, but don't have time to watch a flick, X-Files gets popped into the DVD player.
