I always thought he was an important part of the show. And I forgot all about Kirsch. Actually, I forgot a lot about the last two seasons. :monkey4

Actually, Kirsch came in for season 7 as well, part of closing down the X-Files and all. The one thing I liked about him was the way Mulder's reactions to him were written, between that and Duchovny's performance, it added a nice dynamic to the show.

Speaking of Duchovny, have you been watching Californication? I really like that show. My wife not so much because she still thinks of him as Mulder. :lol

Kersh actually first appears in season 6 and he doesn't appear at all in season 7 until he was brought in to be a kinda nemesis in the Doggett era.

I remember watching the DVDs first (I actually tuned in to the first episode when I was a kid the first night it aired and for whatever reason I didn't continue watching) and having some basic knowledge of what was going on on the show. The DVD releases began right around the time there was all the drama with Duchovny and the casting of Robert Patrick and even though I tried keeping away from the new episodes (I wanted to watch them in order with minimal spoilers) I'd still catch an ep here or there while flipping around or come across something about a new ep online and I saw that Kersh played a significant role in that era.

When I got the DVDs and I saw him in season 6 I thought he'd be a steady presence in the series from that point on and when I got season 7 a few months later when that was released I was surprised that he was altogether absent from the show for an entire year. When he finally reappears in season 8 they sorta make a point of addressing it though, I don't remember exactly but I know they sorta treat him like a long-dormant threat that's resurfaced.

In any case, I'm a fan of the whole series and I'd like to see a followup to the finale in 2012 but they really didn't leave much to work with in regards to characters. You have Mulder & Scully on the run, and Skinner, Doggett and Reyes are still at the FBI but you have a huge chunk of the fanbase that hates D&R, you have almost every other character dead, one of the last two surviving nemeses (Kersh) suddenly turns good and the other one (Toothpick Man) never really had the opportunity to develop as a character and is certainly unknown to most viewers. You also have Jeffrey Spender and Baby William (who would be 10 or 11 at the time of the invasion) still hanging around but that's still a far cry from CSM, Krycek and the Lone Gunmen.

I think we'll get a "prequel" type movie with this one, like a crowd-pleasing "lost episode" that allows them to include all the dead characters (I've heard rumors that it takes place sometime during season 7) and hopefully that is a success so they can ride the wave of that success into the big 2012 alien invasion spectacle.

I think they could make the alien invasion exciting enough so that people could swallow the fact Mulder & Scully are no longer FBI agents and only Skinner, Doggett, Reyes, Kersh, Toothpick Man, Jeffrey Spender and Baby William could return.

Didn't CSM kill Spender? I'm almost positive he put one in his head, point blank. But as with everything X-Files, they may have wiggled out of it later.

He lived. They did experiments on him. He's all disfigured.

Yeah, he was presumably killed by CSM in "One Son" but came back in "William" and "The Truth".

I'm pretty stoked for this flick. And I'm glad that it's going to be a stand-alone scary movie and not follow the mythology. It's also going to be filmed in British Columbia, so the whole thing should look/feel a lot like the first 4-5 seasons of the show. :rock

Just told the wife about the 2nd movie and she got all excited.

Looks like I really have to get her Krychek and Skinner now.

I think that casual viewers just remember them as FBI agents, and if they are going to be making this a standalone non-mythological story, then avoiding the alien takeover and supersoldier plots and just having the two of them just work on a case together will not logically follow the way that they ended the show. If the second movie takes place after the end of the series, they will have to do some backtracking to explain to the audience why Mulder and Scully are no longer working for the government. I like the idea of setting the film during season seven because it gives them a way to write around all of the story arcs that the developed over the last two seasons (primarily without Mulder around).

I just hope for the sake of some continuity that they at least style Gillian and Duchovny's hair like the time frame this is being shot in. They've both aged since then, but at least if you get their trademark hair from the period it'll feel like it happened at that time.

I have to say that in all the chats over Spook - all of the SSC staff got REAL cagey whenever I mentioned the Lone Gunmen sculpts.

They wouldn't even let me know who sculpted them...

Just piqued my interest even more...

Cant wait for the new movie, the lone gunmen figures would be awesome. I wonder if SS will make some new figures for the movie?

They always did an terrific job with the hair in episodes like "Travelers" and "The Unusual Suspects". It was amazing how you could do DD's hair like season 1-style and it was completely believable that you were watching him 5+ years earlier.

I have both of these figures (and I would never part with them) but occasionally I check them out on eBay to see what they're going for.

They're the kind of rare where they don't even go for outrageous prices on eBay because they just aren't on eBay in the first place. There are currently no listings for either figure on eBay right now.

There are only 500 copies of each one in existence and you can say what you want about the lack of interest in the line, there are definitely 500 people that want them and don't plan on getting rid of them.

That's why I'm so bummed about Sideshow not releasing those Lone Gunmen figures that are pretty much ready to go. I don't think there's any doubt that they could sell out a run of 500+.

Alex Krycek and Walter Skinner will never leave my collection! I was soooo lucky I got Krycek since I was on the wait list. I bought Skinner while he was still available.

I think the general audience remembers the movie better than the series. It is easier for the viewer to watch the first movie to get a refresh and then see a sequel that continues the plot.

The first movie got me into the show. I was in my teens and the show seemed a bit too bizarre from the way FOX cut their old commericals, they put more focus on creatures and the bizarre than the human characters, but the film really revolved around people so those clips appealed to me, and once I saw it and liked it a lot, I had to follow the show, and I'm glad I did, one of my favorites of all times. I think the first film is great as a film because it can stand by itself without the series.
