Nice idea Dave, although I voted No as most topics here are focused on Aliens & Robots. However, I agree with TheObsoleteMan in having an Alien/Pred/Terminator specific forum and a sci-fi one, if need be.

I don't think that's a good idea. It'd be like merging DC and Marvel into one big comics forum. Things would get messy. Turning Aliens/Robots into an Alien/Predator/Terminator specific forum and then creating a seperate sci-fi forum seems a better solution imo.

Slightly OT - One thing I would like on SSF's is a forum for Hot Toys products, but I think that might cause cross over in postings as well.

Why not LOTR, Indiana Jones, and Whedonville all in one "FANTASY" section as well.

I'll tell you why. Look how many posts took place today in the Aliens Robot section and the Star Wars section. Now put them all in one section. It'll be harder to find what your looking for, crowded, and your post will stay up top for all of 10 secs.

More sections keep the traffic down in each one and make them more accessable. And how is it hurting anything? To change it will just be a pain in the ass.
because aliens/robots isn't separate, or exclusive from any other scifi and it's drawing an arbitrary fuzzy line.
why not create more separate forums for Blade Runner, or Howard the Duck, or for each of the 6 Star Wars movies?
your argument goes both ways. and since this site has an rss/subscription feed, it already accounts for the traffic problem.

Uhh... Maybe because there isn't an active Blade Runner line, just the one print from Sideshow? Howard the Duck? yea...good example...lots of people talking about Howard the Duck...

Hot Toys has been releasing Alien and Predator figures for years and continue to do so with the upcoming Predator one stuff and I still think we'll get a Giger Alien.

Plus Terminator Salvation is coming, and Hot Toys has the rights to that as well. These lines will all be very very active in 2009.

Again, it's a traffic issue for me. I don't want to subscribe to threads, thats just a pain in the ass.

If it aint broke dont fix it.

yep. there's no benefit for having a separate forum for each and every ******* scifi movie.
merge dc/marvel into an all-inclusive comics section while you're at it.

There's enough traffic in those sections that combining them would be a mistake.

I'm also feeling that there's enough traffic in Aliens & Robots that it needs to stand alone too. (and I like the kitschy title).

The first thing I wanted to say is that I see the need for another sci-fi section. ROBOTS AND ALIENS is so actively busy with just the licenses it covers, it wouldn't be fair or prudent add more themes or licenses into it.

I think to keep the board from getting cluttered maybe it's time to have "master" sections with groupings inside them ala a main SCI FI section, and inside are the ROBOTS AND ALIENS, STAR WARS, a new SPACE AND TIME section (for Doctor Who, Trek, BSG, Stargate, Farscape, whatever), and then an APES section to keep them the hell away from the rest of us. Think of it like a leper colony. Just make Iron Man a Mod there then never look there again! :rotfl

At the same time, maybe a Comics "master" section with DC and Marvel moved inside, again, just to condense clutter off the main page?

Just my 2 cents

we need an aliens and predator section and a seperate scifi section. destrioy one of the lesser visted sections. indiana jones or buffy :lol

Either one of those, or both, could be reintegrated back into general discussion. Neither one gets enough traffic to warrant a full forum anymore.

There is. I say keep the Aliens Robot section as it is.

It seems the purpose of the sections is to aid in the ease of information accessibility. The Ape fans will find their stuff no more dominant in a Sci-Fi section that mixes Aliens, Predator and Terminator in there than the General section it's in now.

Give Apes their own section or a Miscellaneous Sci-Fi section, that should keep the threads more prominent.

I like it the way it is since Terminator, Alien and Predator is the stuff I like when it comes to collectibles, so my vote is no :)

Space and Time works for me.

I voted no, it would make everything muddled. And would Star Wars be included in the Sci-Fi forum, technically it's fantasy first and foremost and doesn't rely on it's technology like Star Trek does. :lol

I voted no, I like the Aliens and Robots section the way it is, plus it sounds cooler than scfi.
