And I'd like to ask if Godfather if it's ok to make money off it by charging more than what she really quotes for a run of clothing?

Not an accusation, just think that if it's truly for the art of it then is it possible that some of these clothing commissions are costing more than what Yunsil or Iris are really quoting?

Without making you look like a ********* the cost for the outfits both is $330, me charging an extra $40 covers the boxes' COA, foam, stands, decals and DX item! so the $40 extra is hardly me making a mass profit is it?

" Ah after wonka is finished I'm gonna by myself a nice car with the billion dollars I made from this project' :rotfl

In the nicest way possible if you'd put something into the commuinty other than 4 years of negative thoughts maybe you'd see that Thi commuinty is growing because of the likes of rainman. I speak on behalf of the guys when I say your negative attitude is not welcome on the fourm and I'd like to ask you to maybe cheer up instead of turning your nose up at everyone who isn't rainman..... I'm here for art not money buddy.

I think you should lighten up a bit. It wasn't an accusation, it was a just a question asking could it be possible that individuals are also profiting from these clothing commission's instead of really just doing it for the community for the art of it. I struck a nerve apparently and worked you over with that comment so I'll leave it alone.

Understand somthing Godfather, for better or worse I've been a part of what goes on with high end collectables. I have an amazing business /customer relationship with Rainman. At one time I was very passionate about this hobby and always shared my views on things. You have the right to either agree or disagree. You don't have the right to call me a *********. I really don't remember you being a part of any of Rainmans projects. Providing reference material, a personal view, a love or nostalgic feeling you may have with the film and source material, none of that. You say that my opinions have had a negative effect on the hobby but the truth is much if the stuff I was fighting for early on is this hobby with not much support is starting to happen now. If it's worth it too you, take the time to go back and look for yourself. Start on page 1 of many of a Rainmans threads and see for yourself. Sure it got heated at times but it was always for the push of somthing better. I don't remember you or any of your participation or involvement in anything Rainman related friend. I'm purely speaking from my experience with Rainman threads. We have a culture of hobbyists now that think they can disrespect some of the older collectors simply because they happened to be plugged in with contacts at the moment. I remember how quiet you used to be, now you think you know more about this hobby than I do and try and disrespect me? I could lash out aggressively but that isn't necessary. A straight foward question doesn't need to be answered with an insult. Just share your thought on if it's naive to claim it's just for the love when there is a recent trend of ways to profit off of that. That applies to me or anyone else. It's not all for the love as you suggest these days. It was once though and I remember those days......do you?

Well I do apolgise for calling you a ********* but Everytime I see your name its followed by something negative I always ask myself why?
Sadly it seems to be the guys who first joined getting Rainmans stuff that want to keep the inflation up and not share the love with anyone........ I joined here as a light weight collector and since wanted to help rebuild what seems like a commuinty that is losing people because of the older collectors who want to try and be top dogs.

I can tell you something though old timer you might know more but when it comes down to the love of the art I think I win that one because I can see is People worrying about money and the payout you get when you sell and then you forget about the art. I stand for what I believe in that's sharing the love with people! I'd also like to state if you are so bothered about me charging an extra $40 per outfit how in the world of cheddar cheese do you justify people paying normal price for a piece and wacking it up 4 times more than bloody paid for it? :rotfl

Sorry bud but its the truth.:wave

If you're all about sharing the love, can I buy a Wonka outfit?

100% yes. sorry guys, not in this for value. if you truly value the artwork, the money is irrelevant. Also it gives money to Lee where it should be going, not recasters / resellers.
Yunsil offering the same clothing sets again, that is another story. that straight up makes the COA of the clothing and h+c for that release a lie.

U ain't kidding. U really expect people will continue to pay premium prices for these "limited" pieces if it's just going to be replicated down the road

I doubt RM is concerned about the secondary prices of his figures. I think maybe one restock a year is enough though. Even with him releasing sculpts, it doesn't hurt the value of the original releases. Anyone can pop up a Bill V1 and it'll still sell for $3k, a Bill with another artists clothes and accessories will only ever sell for cost

How is this even given a second thought? Of course Rainman should continue to restock heads. It combats recasters and Lee gets more money as he should. I'm sorry but if people are buying these for "value" and then that value drops, their loss, or they clearly aren't buying the piece for the right reasons.

Incredibly selfish by whoever that individual is and they should really reassess why they are in this hobby if they want to ruin it for the rest of us to make themselves feel better.

I am newer in the market, well after Rainman Butcher released. Putting together figures has become a great joy of mine recently. I had great fun in putting together a Butcher with Iris outfit, Mj12 head, etc. I liked making it for various reasons:

-It spreads out the money spent over a longer period of time vs buying a full set release. Do I save money? Probably not but it softens the blow.

- it has made me more immersed in the forums for advice, tips, etc. I also now give advice to others.

- I have the ability to shop around and make my own choices (belts, head choice, etc)

- it supports the artists! For example I bought a butcher sculpt from mj12. I had it painted by Rahmier84. I purchased the Iris outfit. I bought belt /knives from tinela and shoes from Robbie!

Rainman releasing head sculpts unpainted is a good move in my book. As many have stated, if people are in it for financial gain, they are in it for all the wrong reasons. Just some thoughts!

I really agree with you about putting figures together. Not only does it help the artists and is great fun to do, but it also gives you a great feeling of satisfaction when the figure is finally complete!

Unless someone doesn't want him to and tries to convince him out of it he should be.
