Which means this Sandtrooper is even better than the ones in the movies, where some assistant obviously forgot to put the holsters on the costumes. Too bad Lucas has sold LucasFilm, otherwise you'd probably see holsters digitally added for the next special edition. ;)

And we could have had rainbow colored Stormtroopers...

Great work on your Sandtrooper Elvis.

Here's a side by side photo showing the Sideshow Stormtrooper and the Marmit version. I tried the Marmit armor on a TT Slim and it just seemed way to short. When I put the Trooper next to HT Luke Bespin, it was SHORTER than Luke.

I ended up using the legs from a TT Regular (with ankle extenders to increase the leg length) and the upper body from a TT slim.

Much happier with the appearance of the Marmit so my Sideshow version will be sold.

I like Marmit and Sideshow both, however, in that specific photo, I much prefer the one on the left in pretty much every way. A slight improvement could be had by squeezing the chest armor after heating it up.

BTW, many Stormtroopers were shorter than Luke. Watch the movies again, it's kind of amusing - in some scenes you'd think they were umpa lumpas chasing around in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.

great troopers collection here ! awesome guys !!! :clap

Here is my troops so far :)

Actually I only have 2 battle droids, just photoshop compositing :)

Actually I only have 1 snowtrooper :)

Fair enough..

I think that photo perfectly illustrates the haphazardness of the SSC amour - better materials aside, compared to the superior Marmit sculpt.

If anything, that Marmit's helmet could be lowered a little on the shoulders, & the shoulder amour & shoulder pieces could be adjusted to line up a bit better anatomically.

Could just be a product of that person's efforts to combine two HT bodies for that figure custom.

The Marmit has a much better sculpt, but the armor is made of PVC so it is softer compared to Sideshow's ABS. Indeed the helmet need to be lowered a bit.

Having a fine eye for detail is a great thing. :wink1:

But it's it's completely missing the forest for the trees. While there are specific things with the Sideshow as mentioned, like the crotch and mic tips which really stand out, its superior build quality cannot be discounted. The softer details on the Marmit should not and cannot be ignored. Look at the movies and you'll see there's plenty of variation in the costumes and actors wearing them, so while I think the Marmit leg length is not well proportioned to the whole figure, I can accept it because it can fit with the variations in the movies.

At the end of the day, the Marmit may get some small details closer to some specific on-screen troopers, the Sideshow is overall the much better figure in every other conceivable way. This is reflected in the aftermarket pricing as well, with Sideshow often costing at least 2x the price of the Marmits - both new in box. To any visitor, both are instantly recognizable as iconic Stormtroopers and I'd challenge any non-detail geek to find anything off with either of them in isolation - the odd Marmit pose and armor placement above notwithstanding.

I want to have both in my collection because I like them for different reasons, and they're the only two brands of collectible troopers I want to have at this time. But when and if Sideshow decide to revisit the classic Stormtrooper, I'm all over it.

BTW, you know who doesn't have an eye for detail? Lucas. Sure, he's got this obsessive control issue, but that doesn't make for attention to detail. And any attention to detail is completely wasted if you don't also have attention to the big picture - only both together are a gift, otherwise it's more of a curse and nuisance.

Come on man, get real.. :lol

Again.. as I mentioned earlier, figure build quality aside; in essence, on screen troops are variations of the Marmit sculpt - not the wonky SSC armour, sorry. :huh

Of course some won't see the nuances / differences, but does that negate those differences?

Except for body proportions. Except for the boots. Except for the detonator thing on the back. Except for a number of helmet details such as the black band. Crappy weapon. Arm section proportions, etc.

My point is that you can't cherry pick only what you want to compare. Leaving out build quality? Come on. The soft details on the Marmit are at least as glaring as the small cod piece on the Sideshow. And if you don't see at least the level of variation on-screen as we always talk about on-figure, then you're watching different movies.

And "in essence?" Now we're comparing the essence of the armor? This is getting too silly. I have both the Marmit and Sideshow troopers and sandies in-hand, and if I could only own one single brand (to get just as silly), it would be Sideshow every time. Once you have them both in-hand, to me, the choice is obvious, despite the differences from some on-screen details.

Well I had to chance to either buy Sideshow trooper or Marmitt. I decided to go for the marmit.

Those small details you're pointing out (like the helmet, crotch, mic, legs and some otherrs) are what is important to me.

IMO the overall look of the marmit and his accuracies is what I like about the marmit.

And with a bit of work the marmit really can top the sideshow any days.

I've added to my post since you've been typing.. :lol

Look, sure - nothing's a perfect analogue of anything, I think we can agree there. When I mentioned 'build quality'.. I was referring to the SSC figure, & conceding that - yes, it's made better.

And "in essence?" Now we're comparing the essence of the armor? This is getting too silly.
You're trying to wind me up, right? :lol

'To sum up'? 'Basically'?

Pick one. :slap
