Even when Burton's batman was one of my favorite movies when I first saw it being a huge batman fan, I enjoyed Nicholson's performance, but I never saw him as "the joker". It was Nicholson, as the joker.
I had very low interest with Heath's joker before I saw the movie, even after hearing all the actors praise his performance. I was just interested to see batman again after batman begins.
The thing that was to my surprise, he stole the show and actually put batman as almost the secondary leading actor.
It's like every best scenes in the movie is when he is around.
It's one of the best portrayal that has graced the big screen.

the first time i saw the trailer for tdk, i was totally put off by heath leadger's joker. i was all: what the hell is that, nolan???

it was something new, something terrifying, something truly disturbing.

something perfect.

never would have guessed it.

I never said the Joker stories in TDK weren't accurate, I meant Heath's Joker is hardly a comic styled Joker. As in the personality himself. I wouldn't even say Heath's Joker was crazy, simply making a show to symbolise what Batman has supposedly done to Gotham

Just took some pictures of my OC Batman with 1/5 scale Glamdring (Gandalf's sword).

I notice that there are more blemishes now than before. I honestly don't think this figure would last as long as expected. Plus the cowl is real dust magnet. :gah:
I even had it in its box throughout these years and just got it out for those pics.

I watched Burton's Batman for the first time in years the other night and I just found the whole movie really cheesy, especially the joker. I loved this movie growing up and still enjoyed watching it, but I really think the whole origin of the joker took away from it. I just never got the feeling that Jack was the same guy who transformed into the joker. It was overly dramatic in a really goofy way, which I guess a lot of Burton's movies are. But the joker just comes off as more of a circus clown than a murdering psychopath. You never really feel threatened by him. Ledgers joker just embodied that. He comes across as generally terrifying, like someone who's isn't just comfortable killing but somebody who enjoys it. And yes while Burton's joker may seem more accurate appearance wise, I think changing it up really adds to the overall evil nature of the joker. Ok I think I'm done ranting now.

Looking back in retrospect will do that. If you had said this in early 2008, people would've ran you off these boards:lol But I do agree with you. I saw the 89' Batman recently and even though it made me want to get the DX09 figure, it did absolutely nothing in me wanting the DX08. Actually, now that I think about it, I think Mr. Freeze would be the only "Batman Anthology" villain I'd even want.

No offense to those who love still him though:peace

i think nolan bats will probably age better. burton bats was definitely a product of its time.

let's check back in 20 years from now.

: D

I second that. The sheer size of it plus the wings as well as the light up feature would be epic!

Nicholson = Better laugh, more accurate. HOWEVER, he was a celebrity who knew he was a celebrity, and in that meant he no longer had to do a good job in his acting. He was good in his youth but his acting did the same as his personality, turned sour.

Ledger = A fantastic actor, new take on an iconic character, unique. Although, his success may have been emphasised by the news of his death, I believe he deserves every bit of praise he got for his acting, out of sympathy or not, he was brilliant. Brokeback Mountain is another example of how good of an actor he is, he should have gotten more recognition then but he didn't.

I loved him in a knights tale.

I hate the fact that he passed so young. He was such a promising actor. I miss the guy so much.
