My GF a tatto artist I'll have to get her on here and take some pics. But as far as caring theres so many different opinions and everyone reacts different.

She says, take off bandage, wash it, let it dry for a day and then use Vaseline Intensive care.

Lucky- do you get free ink? :lol

I got mine yesterday and it just feels a bit raised and rough right now. If you look at it in certain lights it looks like it has a weird cracky texture.

I use A&D ointment.

Also, if you guys are married, it MIGHT be a good idea to tell your wife you are getting one. They don't react well when you just show up with a giant tattoo out of the blue.

My wife wants to pay for my next one! Although she wants me to get something that kind of signifys her in some way since my first two are symbolic representations of my childhood/teenage years...the tough part will be choosing what to get because we both know the ol' same superstition and won't tempt fate that way (plus that ain't my thing no offense to those who have it I just find it a bit.....played out). :lol

How long does it take for the scabs to heal/fall off guys? Mine doesn't look or feel anything like a sunburn but I admit it has been forever since I have had a sunburn. It feels more bruised than anything else. It also feels a bit painful when I stretch a bit.... normal right?

I can't wait for my next. Although it's so much work. :lol I have future plans for a 3/4 sleeve and a rib piece. :rock

What do the scabs look like guys and how long after the tattoo was done did they appear? Are they just like the scabs you get when you skin your knee only colored or are they different in another way? Just wondering... I am curious about what's to come. :lol

Look pretty normal.....I only had a few...mostly it was like peeling skin...you don't want scabs if you can avoid it - and ESPECIALLY not thick scabs because then you are probably losing a lot of your ink. And if you do get scabs...try not to get them wet.....put lotion on the skin, but not the scab.

That's what I was always told anyway...... :dunno

A week or a little longer...... Or course it will be a bit painful if you are stretching the skin. Your tattoo is like you just got a 1st degree burn...it's going to be sore. :lol

You are definitely going to die.:lol:lol:lol

The scabs are more like peeling from a sun burn imo.

i agree, but for my skin, cause its so dry naturally, it was a pain the azz cause i constatntly had to put lotion on and the next two i want are really big, but i would need someone to put lotion on for me :lol

Wait times for a good artists- what's average?

Also, what is the average price per hour you guys are paying?

Wait times can vary from a a week or two to a month depending on where you go. The average cost per hour is usually around $100. However, it may also depend on the amount of colors and detail. Most places also charge a deposit for custom art that comes off of the final price. Also when getting a tatt you are not required to tip. However, tips are welcome if they do a good job. Most are just happy to hear that the piece looks awesome!

Good luck Rory! :duff

P.S.
Also remember that the wait time is a good thing. It assures you that you are going to a desired artist and that they are taking their time with your art.

Wait times= definitely good. :rock :D

I am comfortable waiting. I personally like to drop by and explain the artwork I am looking for in great detail and then coming by again later after the artist has had time to draw everything out perfectly. I don't think I would ever be able to just do a walk in as I also need the time to think. :lol

I tipped my last guy pretty well because he did a great job. His hourly rate was $120 I think. I had to wait 2 weeks.

How is your tattoo coming along?
