I just posted the following FB comment under their Scarlet Witch 1/6 posting:

"Sideshow Collectibles I hope you send out replacement hands for your new 1/6 C-3P0. There was clearly a mistake in the manufacturing process and the thumb piece was set in the hand incorrectly. There is no way for the average joe to reposition the thumb without possible breakage. This is a great and expensive figure and I would hope that your company would correct this manufacturing error."

I'm liking 3PO much more since I fixed his thumbs...something I shouldn't have had to do after spending $200 plus.

If you go a couple pages back you'll see the generic response that those of us that complained received from them.
It doesn't look they plan on doing anything about it. Now I wished I received mine with a broken piston so I had a test piece to do the mod.

Though that post to their Facebook page that Sideshow responded to was probably one of the first public complaints about the hands. If enough people keep complaining maybe Sideshow's generic rude response will change. Hopefully! :D

That does look better, but whatever you do to the thumbs the hands look too large in pictures - is it the same in hand? I don't wish to sound rude about the figure but in some photos the hands look like rake's to me.

At times I think the gold finish distorts the way the hands look...but yeah, the mitts are a bit large on this guy; nothing we can do about that. Best advice, don't purchase it if you don't like it.

In my opinion. The rake looking hand was due to the fact that they have to make this articulated. If its a fixed pose, I bet it will be properly aligned.

Why on Earth would Sideshow replace the hands? If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Because the thumbs didn't have this problem in the prototype photos. Sideshow have disappointed in the past, but this is pretty blatant bait-and-switch.

I wouldn't call this "bait and switch," that implies deceptive intent.

This is obviously a production error at the factories.

The question is what Sideshow is going to do about it.

The hands aren't oversized by much. The fingers are a little long and too widely spaced, but that's due to the articulation, and it really is very slight. It's possible the base of the hand is sculpted a bit too flat, putting the thumbs on the same plane as the fingers, creating more of the "rake" look (made worse by the misaligned thumbs.)

But putting a normal 1/6 hand next to the SSC 3PO hand proves they aren't that far off the right size.

Thanks, glad to hear it. I do think it was brave of them to try articulated fingers.

Yeah, it was - and they very nearly pulled it off. This figure does seem to be getting a ton of flack over some issues that are (to me) quite minor in-hand. For such a complex engineered figure, QC was bound to be an issue, and I had a couple.

I gotta say - I got this and HT Luke on the same day and I didn't open Luke for a while (3PO opened immediately,) and even after opening, Luke just got put on display whereas 3PO is on the desk, constantly being examined and reposed. I was deeply skeptical SSC could pull this off and said so all along (and I own the Tama 3PO) but this has been a great surprise that I'm so happy I kept the PO on.

The only lingering issues I have center on the face sculpt (the face is a little vertically squashed, chin prominent) but I've done some very subtle tweaks (with a couple more to come) that have helped minimize the issues to the point where I'm okay with it.

The fingers - well, I have pretty decent custom skills, so I'll fix them when I have time, but posed in the right way, it's not this grotesque horror that some people seem to be making it out to be (again - to me.) It isn't the thumbed equivalent of the Drake headsculpt, or even of Tan Solo.

Overall, this is an amazingly engineered figure with a great metallic finish (another doubt I had) that's a ton of fun to handle/play with and display. It's the last figure I thought I'd love, but that's how it turned out.
