Oh, gotcha. Whatever happens, I think 2010's going to be fruitful for variety in the Star Wars line. 2009 had some nice figures, but the selection was pretty quiet with the trooper variants, I think this year will see more variety of characters.

I don't think you'll see ESB Vader at SDCC honestly. I think that might not happen till 2011.

What better time is there than the 30th anniversary of Empire to reveal an ESB Vader? :dunno

It's like $10k in free advertising. Though, with Indy, they've shown that sometimes the marketing department likes to think from dark, dank, smelly places that require an extraordinary amount of flexibility to reach. Here's hoping they've learned from that.

I'm not sure which Vader to expect next, ESB would make sense with the anniversary and all, but ROTJ would make more sense with the Emperor.

No it wouldn't. Not from a business standpoint. He should be the last one they release. He's the grail of the Vaders. They can work out any glitches in the "reveal system" on ROTS and perfect them for the ROTJ Vader. Hell, they can milk it a bit more before ROTJ by doing a battle damaged TFU Vader too.

I was thinking that, but at the same time, would it work. People are either going to buy every Vader or they won't. With ANH, you can get extra sales because it's the first and possibly the only, but from here on, if someone's just holding out for ROTJ, they'll probably keep holding out. I just wonder if Vader could be executed with such a plan. I personally plan on getting ESB and ROTJ, and if it's interesting enough to me I'd even get ROTS. There's no incentive to put any one before the other. I would think people that will buy 3-4 Vaders would also feel the same, planning to do it no matter which comes when.

If they take the Indiana Jones train of though. We will probably see ROTS Vader before ESB. Poor character choices made that line Indy's last crusade!:monkey1

Sorry...I had to.

Star Wars fans are the most impatient lot I've ever seen. And again, as you've stated, it's about quantity, not quality. If they hold ROTJ Vader till last, people will bite on other versions. After all, he's the OG Star Wars Badass.

We'll see, I would expect the next Vader this year though, even though ANH shipped last summer, he debuted the summer before, it's been 2 years since a Vader was anounced, that's enough of a gap between releases I think.

I just don't think they'll run another Vader out there right this minute type. The other hasn't been out that long and I don't think they'll do that with a character like Vader. That way they can work out any kinks the first "might" have had.

The Josh.....What the Frak? I heard he was dead. ;) :lol

Ah thats just a nasty rumor. :lol

By SDCC Vader will have been out for a year, I think that's enough time between shipping, and it'll be 2 years since the previous Vader was announced. They've had times where there's been a Luke or Obi-Wan yearly, why not Vader, there's no reason to hold off other than strategising for release with other figures that go with him.

ANH Vader would have been announced two years prior, come SDCC. So I'm not getting the "rushed" part. Even if they announced an ESB Vader at SDCC, we likely wouldn't get him until the following year anyway. And the only "kinks" ANH Vader had was that the body is too tall, which likely won't be addressed, and the helmet's dome which from what the rectal retentives have stated was accurate to ESB Vader anyway.

And again, what better time for an ESB Vader than the 30th anniversary of ESB?

I can't buy into that either, the dome aspect of the Sideshow Vader just doesn't resemble any Vader on film to me, I've heard it said it looks more like ESB/ROTJ, but the issues with the Sideshow dome apply to all Vaders and need to be dealt with in the future, and I'm sure it will be.

Personally, it was a non-issue for me. I did toy with the idea of modifying it, but in the end didn't like the smooshed look the mod had. So I'm content with the short helmet on Vader.

Thats true its been two years coming up between SDCC. If they announce it I'll order it no questions but I just have other figures I want like Cody, other clones, Boba at least at the same time with another Vader. I'm content right now with the ANH which is damn good in my book.

It wasn't just shortness I find, like I illustrated long ago with the figure, there's a slope to the flare part in the films from front to back, but on the Sideshow figure it follows a straight line, there's less mass to the flare, which I think is more the problem than how low or high it sits on the mask, and it could go a hair wider too. I'm confident in the next helmets being improved though.
