It didn't need anything more than what it came with, I found it straight forward & easy to understand..., it probably could've been put together with no instructions at all because of the numbering. :)

I didn't need it either, but I wouldn't have necessarily tried removing the top of the bottom half if I hadn't noted in the instructions it was removable. There are a lot of people who, even with the instructions, won't have an easy time. They're tiny and for this kind of product, a little ridiculous in their format as well as being incomplete.

I was actually relieved I found it easy to put together, I have a tendency to be a bit heavy handed & can damage things even when I'm trying my best not to so I was pleased I had no problems with this one..., Sideshow are better than Kotobukiya though & their figures are what I tend to have issues with (sometimes). :)

What about using a dual color LED and controlling it from the remote?

That will require a controller IC inside to toggle the bi-color LED, but yeah, totally possible. This is super low volume so I'm not going to design an IC and then try to build it or have it built, so I'd have to find something pre-made in component form. Might be easier to just use an RGB LED.

Got mine today. Another issue with glue not setting and one of the leg parts just coming apart. 2/2 for new orders that have crappy glue. Can't wait to get it all together though but scared to even touch it (especially the smaller clip on parts). Don't know how I would ever dismantle it if I had to over sell

If you remove the top of the body, you can pinch the leg inserts from the inside and they just slide right out.

The only piece I had any trouble with was the smallest greeblie that resembles triangular struts. I could have filed the pegs down but instead I used evenly distributed, careful pressure to get it flush. That one's not coming out again.

The rest of the droid is very simple and easy...and not exceptionally delicate. Just mildly nerve-wracking the first time as I didn't want to unexpectedly break something due to lack of familiarity.

I had a problem with that triangle greeblie thing too, but it was the opposite: it was too loose. So I put some plumber's tape on it and it made it fit nice and snug.

And Pix, I guess I meant that I would love to see pics of the droid disassembled and you doing your wiring (without giving away any trade secrets, of course). I just like to see technical stuff like that I guess.

Ohhh.... THAT piece. That's the most fragile part of the entire figure - came in a small plastic bag and almost fell out of the box - I found it just kind of sitting on the styrofoam, having no clue how it got there. Mine still isn't flush - but I'll probably wait until I've done some work, because it's still removable right now.

Good idea. I used a small metal bar to apply even pressure across it so as not to snap it in order to work it into the space. I wouldn't advise that approach unless you're confident. I'm actually a trained goldsmith...with very good to excellent dexterity and used to working with very small pieces. Relatively slender fingers helps...I mean I still have man hands but they're not meat hooks. A buddy of mine would probably break that part just by picking it up.

My issues was leg 3 I think. Pushed in exactly like the others no heavy handedness but the pressure popped the part near the joint out and wouldn't stay there without additional glue. Had to glue the rex right leg as well so not a good day for taking stuff out the box.

The only issue with mine right now is one piston-rod has pulled out from its hinge support - the other end is frozen/stuck inside the sleeve - I'll have to use some pliers to pull it out.

Well epic failure so far for my attempted fix. Seems to be a defect. Does anyone know the likelihood of obtaining another leg as it is not human error e.g. being over zealous with my hands etc.

I was almost going to pick this up second hand but some of these issues make it seem safer to get it from Sideshow or some other retailer in case I run into any issues while assembling.

So, quick poll-like question...

In wiring this guy to power, are folks interested in remote controlled activation of the existing sound effect?

or would you prefer to skip the sfx entirely?

or have an alternate sfx module inside that could store multiple effects and play them back one at a time via remote button press (sequentially)?

+1 for Sound fx!

+1 for multiple Sound fx!

My Probe droid is like a favorite pet - I'm willing to shell out for the knitted coat and designer collar.:lol
