It's Pine, unfinished at that, so yeah, rustic to say the least. It'll clean up with a little work, some stain or paint.

Unfortunately, the choices outside of IKEA ready-made are hacking multiple products, custom building from scratch or third party - this last option generally starts at over US$700 and goes up well past a few thousand for something the size of a Pax.

Yeah its a bit rough but I plan on painting the whole thing if I buy it.

Yep...paint or stain would do it a world of good...ideally the brown plastic fittings would be dealt with also.

Got around to remove the battery from the lower half today. Took alot more force than I expected to get the lid of :)

No corrosion on that battery but better safe than sorry.

Anyone have a single clear rod they'd be willing to part with, for a fellow SW nut who happens to be a 1/6 nut?
Just asking. Thanks!

I am getting concern, until now my order has not arrive at the local distributor.

It did be scarry to learn of any cancelation and I have to get it off the secondary market...

No extra but you both can buy from the same ebay buyer I did. He will cut to length for free if you don't want 12". Fast and trustworthy.....

5 Pieces Clear Acrylic Plexiglass Lucite Rod 3 8

Yeah, I just didn't need 5. I figured someone might have 4 they didn't need (unless they bought a fleet of probe droids). Just trying to be efficient. :)
Guess I will order from eBay.

Gents, I just happened to receive a 5-pack of these clear acrylic rods a month ago. They fit perfectly and was gonna offer the extras to any fellow Freaks still looking for them. PM me if you're interested and I'll figure out what it should cost to ship them out.

Turned around today and almost thought it was floating. ;)

You should keep them. I'm fairly convinced that they'll bend over time. Which is why Sideshow elected to go the way they did.

That's why I got the solid acrylic. That hollow stuff Hot Toys uses always bends. This stuff is a lot more sturdy. I don't think it will bend. My Probe Droid has been on it for months and hasn't had an issue. The batteries however...

I've had HT's Reeve Superman clamped to its acrylic tube sitting on an angle for well over a year now - no bending of the tube. YMMV. What I think rod might do is produce less refraction which might help it to look more "invisible" - I'll probably pick some up too as I don't know if I'll get around to suspending the Probe Droid from above.

I had to replace my Hot Toys Reeve Superman rod because it was drooping and hasn't since I replaced it with a solid one.

Thanks for the warning, Rook. The kind I got are solid extruded acrylic. They seem rock-solid, but I guess only time will tell how they hold up in the long run. I will say, as you can see in ZE's photo, it really "elevates" this piece to the next level (sorry, couldn't resist).

Also, no more requests please for extra rods. They've all been spoken for. Thanks!

The probot weighs pretty much nothing and the weight is vertically and evenly applied (as opposed to a lopsided object and/or angled acrylic support) so not sure why it would bend.

If you have the time to look in this thread, do a search for the photo I posted of the old big studio scale Icons TIE fighter which had an acrylic pole to hold it without any issues. There will be no issues with the acrylic pole for the Probot
