Yeah even though I think their basic sculpts and likenesses have improved over the years, it's clear that their costuming, paint apps, and skin texture haven't improved much at ALL from their old Buffy, Angel, and X-Files days. It's all still very basic and simple looking, and nothing like the kind of detail you see from other companies today.

I wonder if it's because their real passion is with their statues, and the 1/6 stuff they just don't take as seriously for some reason.

Certainly in terms of of SS's Nathan Drake, I have to disagree. We all know the various issues people had with the headsculpt, but I thought the tailoring / weathering of the outfit was excellent. I also thought the body was nicely proportioned and sturdy and the , albeit limited, accessories pretty decent.

In a way, I think they over-reached with the Drake headsculpt, attempting a HT finish but obviously using below par artists on the production figure. I think their Snake Plissken is a reaction to this. Where rather than try for a high-end finish they've played safe with more basic flat paint apps.

I don't have Plissken in hand yet, but in terms of overall quality from what I've seen he appears to be a step back rather than a step forward from Drake.

Sideshow still seem to sell out most of it's 1/6 products, so they probably think they are not doing too badly lol. How many people have bought a figure, thinking it below par and then getting it completely modified? Some people might just buy a figure because they will use the clothes for something else, or the body is really good (SSC Batman) and they want that for something else.
Perhaps SSC produce in far less quantities than HT, but they seem to end up with more HT 1/6 left in stock for a long time.

If there isn't a new factory producing X-Wing Luke and this Indy, then there's no way they can achieve the look in the proto. If not, then Sideshow will soon see that even customizers will not be picking these ones up at the current price. Having to repaint a sculpt on a $200+ figure is a big no no.

Meh, Snake came out alright. He looks like what I ordered. That said, his accessories are chintzy. But if Indy comes out looking like what we ordered, then that will be a win for me.

It´s why I passed on ACI´s aragorn, given that figure is 300$ but it just doesn´t look as good as for example Thor 2. Those paint apps are near lifelike, which is what I expect for 300$. Same for Indy, he is a MUST have, but even I have my limits. Unless I see a good basis for easy mods I just am not interested. SSC Emperor palpatine taught me my lesson. Fool me once..

So when should our first chance at seeing Indy on display be? Comic-Con? I'm coming back around to this figure, although maybe it's just partially because the Indiana Jones market is so dry... :lol

Very likely we'll see him on display at SDCC I'm sure. Sideshow will probably change up the display/pose. Anyway, I'm all in for this figure.

Can't wait to see more pics of this figure, hope sideshow don't forget how important it will be for some of us that it turns out awesome!

They won't forget! Judging by how the Hoth Han came out, I'm pretty confident that finally we'll get the definitive version of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Eyes :rotfl

This doesn't bode well for Indy. :monkey2

Why they are totally two different sculptors and different characters. That Han always looked awful. Trevor Grove is a super artist but that sculpt didn't looked right and I think that's why SSC didn't get him to do Indy.

He does look terrible there, but I think the actual photo with it's lens distortion and bad lighting is making it look much worse than it is.
