I came really close to getting these with the $50 off coupon, but I think it was still too much to pay considering all the QC problems it has. I just didn’t want to deal with floppy bodies and weak wrist pegs where the hands pop off for $170. And the thing that really put it over the edge for me is that the set didn’t include the other Jawa “classic” blaster.

I do agree they look great though, which made the decision that much harder. Every time I come into this thread, I’m overwhelmed with irrational feelings of jealousy seeing everyone's pics!:lol

Same with me. Even with the $50 I still think these are way over priced for what they are.

Yeah, but that pic of the custom Jawa robe (I love that unbelievably good custom Jawa btw:clap) kind of points up what I mean. I love the look of the fabric (which is fairly close to the hasbro Jawa coat fabric, which is actually pretty good), but it just doesn't drape all that well because that type of weave makes the fabric a bit too rigid. You can see it where the arms bend and how it hangs at the front - single/large folds versus many more realistic folds and fabric that hangs as if it has weight.

It's this thing of matching the distinctive (and "Jawa defining":lol) fabric weave or making the robe flow/hang the way it did onscreen - it really has a lot of weight and hangs/flows in lots of ripples onscreen. The Sideshow one does that, even if the fabric weave isn't a very good match.

This side-by-side shows what I mean... I like the weave on the left, but you can see its a bit too rigid and doesn't hang like the robes do onscreen. The SSC one on the right doesn't have the weave, but has lots of nice draping folds and apparent weight (and the frayed fabric at the wrists maybe scales a touch better):

I'm getting the best of both worlds - I'll have two custom jawas and two SSC. It will be interesting to see what HT comes up with for their Jawas when they get around to them. To have a fabric that does both would be great, because let's face it - 90% of what makes up a Jawa is the robe.:lol

Unless they do what they did to Leia. On a figure who's just a headsculpt and a dress, they messed up 50% of that figure.

But that's why it's value-priced at $205. :) Haha - HTGFYS.

Pixel is BACK! :yess:

Good to see you back and in fine form again, brother.:hi5:

True (just tried to take a pic of my ANH Leia and that dress will not even crease a tiny bit - it's like shower curtain) but they did nail a very tough headsculpt likeness and paint app, while all SSC had to do was make a black ball with two LED's inside it.

Good points Tali - but in fairness to the robes, I haven't done any water treatment to them. Bones has on his customs (same robes) and his are the closet thing I've ever seen to screen accurate - they look like screen shots.

I've never done the water treatment on anything, so I'm too cautious to give it a go :monkey3

I totally agree with this. We all seem to assume that when these companies does something not completely screen accurate it's because they're ignorants. But sometimes it's a choice - in this case between drape or weave. They chose drape fair enough, I would have made the same choice, some wouldn't. I'm not changing the robes of mine and I love these little guys. Should the bodies have been better? Yes they should, but they're still some of my favorite SW figures.

Mine should arrive in the next 24 hours.

Has anyone had NO problems with the bodies, or is this pretty much everyone? Did anyone try Sideshow CS regarding the floppy bodies? Or was it a "they're all like that, sorry" situation as they've done on a few items in the past (though that was more like a finish on something, not the failure of a whole body.)

TOD Indy had a consistent problem with the body (arm fused or something) and SSC CS offered replacements.

Don't know. Mine are definitely not tight, but not floppy. They stay in pose.

Yup - mine are crappy :(

I've got a discount code floating around in my SS wallet and I'm really tempted in taking the plunge on these. I really want a pair of Jawas in the collection and I don't see Hot Toys ever making them.

One thing's for sure, Cocoboloboy's custom stand is a must-get. I've got a bud that picked one up and it looks fantastic. Not to the mention the fact that his Jawas no longer look like a pair of hobo's strung out on the Detolf shelf...

:rock

Do it! They're really a great looking set of figures. And they're Jawas, I mean, come on. :D

What are peoples thoughts on Hot Toys doing a couple of Jaws ? I have my doubts. In theory they would need to be part of the original trilogy release you would expect. Plus they have enough to do at the moment.

Just re-read that and it sounds like I'm in "convince myself" mode.
