This was always one of my favourite Kenner figures, so I'm really looking forward to eventually picking one up. I just have to erase the fact that Beckett was wearing the disguise in "Solo", like it was just lying around in Lando's cloak room on the Falcon. I much prefer my head-canon version that it was acquired more nefariously in ROTJ.
Oh, and I love that parts of the weapon was made from a hair dryer! Gotta hand it to the props guys from these films.
I wonder if this will pre-order when the bulk of the Jabbas start shipping? Naturally I'm very interested now that I have gone in on Jabba. I wonder if they have any other palace creeps in their plans? Hoping they will do an updated Bib and Gamorrean Guard but not exactly counting on it.
Yeah, there was a time when Sideshow really cranked out the creature character releases. It's been a lot of years since then - seems like they just don't do the amount of 1/6 they used to, and the other issue is they will all be in the $250+ range.
The question becomes - once you've paid your $850-900 for Jabba, will you then shell out $250 for Bib and $250 for Gammy? Nearly $1500 for a Jabba/throne and two supporting figures is kinda scary if you really think about it.[emoji38]
To be honest, I think they'd be crazy to do a new Bib Fortuna - he just doesn't have much wow/cool as a standalone figure for those who don't have Jabba, especially if this new Jabba is in the low numbers people seem to think. I'd LOVE a new Bib Fortuna, and would be one of the ones who'd pay $250, but I realy think he'd be a pretty low wattage figure sales-wise, even if he'd be pretty easy for Sideshow to do and no-brainer to go with the new Jabba.
Gamorrean has way more wow/cool factor and would sell to people who didn't have Jabba but my guess is he would be $270 because of all the unique tooling/body - and that commitment (new unique body, huge amount of sculpting) might stop Sideshow from doing it. I believe that original fig might be too old for a V.2 version using the same molds, but it was a somewhat underwhelming figure anyway (wonky proportions, little articulation, so-so sculpt, just-okay outfit) and even with much-improved paint would look a bit wonky.
The old Bib can look good. He needs a body swap, at least a minor repaint and a heavy water treatment. The sculpt is surprisingly good and a body swap does wonders.
The robe is by far the worst problem with him. A water treatment can get it far, but I’d still buy a new version just for that.

Nice job! Makes me want to get mine out and do some customizing. I never did care for that robe either. I wonder how many people would be interested in a custom robe if I got one made.
I think everybody who has a Bib would be interested. The actual robe was made of velvet, so a thin velvet would look wonderful as it’s heavy.
Only thing is... will SSC reissue Bib? I’m afraid they won’t as a 250$ Bib Fortuna likely wouldn’t sell to anyone who didn’t buy Jabba.

I don't remember if I ever posted this here before, but just thought I'd post a quick pic I snapped at sdcc last yearView attachment 441197
Good picture. He looks very good... tailoring and boots and all. Very nice! I don’t think that I’d ever display him without the helmet so I’m not worried about the sculpt. Just hope I don’t have to pay for a second head...
Yeah they’re really dragging their feet putting this up for PO.
