Sideshow 1:6 Lando as Skiff Guard Figure

Yeah, I had to un-sub from the Hot Toys Cody and Jango threads since I know those won’t be anytime soon, I may have to do the same here.

It’s such a cool design. I remember seeing pics in a magazine (Starlog, Time ?) before the movie came out and just loved the look of this and the “Jabba’s palace” stuff in general.

I know HT has done it but has SSC shown complete 1/6 figures and then never put them up for PO?

It's a vibroaxe that's partly made from a 1980s hair dryer (the part right above Lando's left hand.)

Now THAT's nerdom.

It's a Supermax.

That's the mega-nerd alert.

And the front of the Y-Wing nacelles was L'eggs pantyhose containers.

The old Bib can look good. He needs a body swap, at least a minor repaint and a heavy water treatment. The sculpt is surprisingly good and a body swap does wonders.
The robe is by far the worst problem with him. A water treatment can get it far, but I’d still buy a new version just for that.

Bib is a good figure with a new paint job and body swap he can become even a greater figure. I think this figure got under rated but it`s still a great and must have to any 1/6 ROTJ collection.

I'm not a huge fan of the Sideshow sculpt itself - something too simplistic and slightly wonky about it - but it can certainly be made to look way better by adding maybe 3/4" to the height and making him much skinnier.

It'd be a great character to update by HT or even SSC, but I really don't think he'd sell very well.

Thanks. I just futzed the robe, some is in the back. I have a taller body coming too.

I use "Luquitex Basics" Gloss Varnish from Hobby Lobby to glaze the eyes.

Since I can't swing the new Jabba, I might have a go at repainting my 2007 Jabba before Lando arrives. The way things are going, I should have plenty of time.

Nah, Sideshow's Lando looks better than anything I could do.

Not sure what happened with Luke, it does look awful.

Probably for all the complaints of their Luke Skywalker figure to die down — hoping people will forget how bad they are at doing human sculpts and PO this guy. I’ve learned my lesson — no more POs on characters that are actually supposed to look like someone. I’ll stick to aliens and droids with them.

They’ve said in the past that when there’s delays it’s due to contracts for various things needing to be finalized (sourcing materials, factory time), meaning they can’t finalize the price and time frame until all that is locked down.

So in my mind that’s just where the delay is happening. I think they were ready to put this up for pre-order and then some wrench got thrown in the mix. But maybe they’re waiting for more people to start getting their Jabba’s who knows. Hopefully when they finally put it up there’s not an 16-month time frame for delivery.

Yeah given how their new Luke turned out, it's pretty obvious they're not taking the extra time to improve the headsculpt on this. So must be something else.
