I am getting a new dome also. I am going to be very apprehensive when it comes time to destroy the original. It just has paint issues, nothing else. However, I get the whole destroy the original thing. It would be abused badly otherwise.

The little guy just rolled up to my front porch. No problems whatsoever. Worth the $150.00 to me.

Mine has a crooked panel and a blob of glue on the dome. I guess he'll be going back, bit of a pain from New Zealand. Waiting to hear what Sideshow have to say.

Well, I have a replacement table on the way. Funny that's the part I had issues with, the paint must have sealed the magnet piece in. In the mean time, a quick pic on the ipad.

Looks great. You'll want to tap the screen where Artoo is though, so it will focus on him and not thr trees in the background. If you tap the screen where he is and hold your finger there, it will lock the focus at that distance.

Thanks, it was just too cold out to stop and take more, I'm hoping for a better day this weekend to get more snaps, hopefully on a real camera.

I assume you removed the clear little plastic piece from the table that sits above the magnet, right?

I took mine out again last night just to make sure that I wasn't experiencing the high of a new figure feeling when I got him on Saturday. Nope, still a perfectly functioning R2 unit. I took more time going over the figure--I guess I got very lucky with the paint apps and overall QC. I have over a 100 figures and this is one of my top 5 in my collection.

I hope everyone gets their issues sorted out with this if you got a wonky one.

I emailed SS about a replacement. Upon further inspection theree is a spot on the dome above the panel that operates the lights the size of a dime that does't seem to be painted. Plus inside that circle there is a white scratch. There is also a glob of something on longest right door that is missing paint. Hopefully not a hassle.

Played with mine for a couple of days. Totolly impress by the design efforts putted into R2.

It would have been perfect if R2 is 10-15% larger.

Agreed. Just some features needed to be better executed on the production figures. Size is off, but not by enough for me to worry too much.
Sideshow's research and development did impress me, though

I found the silver paint on the main eye can be rubbed away with an x-acto blade and a very light touch. Go slow. Use the flat of the blade, not the point!

I got about 90% of that stupid silver off the main eye and I can live with what's left.

This picture is from my phone's potato camera. It's not perfect but it's much less obnoxious:

I got a scare when I first saw silver paint on the eye, thought it was a defect.
