You guys are making it hard for me NOT to buy this right now!!!

I'd buy a second one if I had cash to burn. Put this together with 3PO and it lifts both figures. Handling the two makes for two very different experiences, with one being solid and everything fitting and moving just so, while the other is light and loose. But I haven't been as happy with a figure in a long time.

Mine arrives tomorrow. Hoping for no QC issues! A little nervous about that. I will definitely be doing the dome alcohol swab though!

Well done Kamandi :duff

I was thinking non-acetone nail polish remover might also do the trick... but I'd be worried it would take off more than just the silver unless you were very careful. Scraping is probably the safer method.

I got a scare when I first saw silver paint on the eye, thought it was a defect.

Ditto. Pulled him out, saw the silver, repacked him immediately with plans to call SSC. Luckily this thread stopped me.

No acetone! Always try "non-acetone" finger nail polish remover first. Less harsh and has a very good chance of doing the trick.

I had a place where the weathering was a bit smudged on my dome, but after hitting it with a sponge and 91% alcohol it's not a problem. I took a fair amount of grime off the dome and IMHO it's a bit more screen accurate now.

Chopped a traditional stand so these fools could chill together.

I found the silver paint on the main eye can be rubbed away with an x-acto blade and a very light touch. Go slow. Use the flat of the blade, not the point!

I got about 90% of that stupid silver off the main eye and I can live with what's left.

This picture is from my phone's potato camera. It's not perfect but it's much less obnoxious:

There's a lot of great pics in this thread, but these are particularly helpful. Great work guys!

Is just the exclusive shipping now? Has anyone received a regular yet? I ordered the reg form AE so I was just wondering what the timeframe is here.

Please don't use acetone. You run a good chance of melting the plastic. I work with it every day and have seen what it does when someone accidently sprays their calculator. Ugly scene.

I got a kick out of this comment below on IGN where they did a 2 min unboxing review on R2. If this kid only knew the half of it. He's amazed by $150....:lol

$150???!!! for a toy?? Maybe play for a couple of hours total and then it collects dust.

I am genuinely curious who would buy this. Millionaires maybe.

So I decided to take another look at mine after all of the posts. I really think whoever was in charge of the silver paint should be fired. It seems to be everywhere it shouldn't.
I also noticed that a lot of places including the whole upper left leg has no weathering. Nice and white. I found this on the lower right leg too . Honestly has to be one of the most piss poor paint jobs I've seen.
For $150 we really shouldn't have to be fixing production flaws ourselves.
