Can't wait for a smoking R5-D4.
Can't wait for a smoking R5-D4.
I'm all for that too.
Wasn't there an EU story about R5-D4 that he was actually a Jedi and he knew Luke needed R2 and not himself?
He then used the Force to destroy his own motivator.
After Hot Toys chops off some limbs and whatnot, them must send them over to work in the Sideshow show factory. That would explain a lot of Sideshow production problems.
Ha ha ha ha I remembered reading this!
Skippy the Jedi Droid - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki
I got a scare when I first saw silver paint on the eye, thought it was a defect.
Well done Kamandi
I was thinking acetone might also do the trick... but I'd be worried it would take off more than just the silver unless you were very careful. Scraping is probably the safer method.
I had a place where the weathering was a bit smudged on my dome, but after hitting it with a sponge and 91% alcohol it's not a problem. I took a fair amount of grime off the dome and IMHO it's a bit more screen accurate now.
I found the silver paint on the main eye can be rubbed away with an x-acto blade and a very light touch. Go slow. Use the flat of the blade, not the point!
I got about 90% of that stupid silver off the main eye and I can live with what's left.
This picture is from my phone's potato camera. It's not perfect but it's much less obnoxious:
Please don't use acetone. You run a good chance of melting the plastic. I work with it every day and have seen what it does when someone accidently sprays their calculator. Ugly scene.Ditto. Pulled him out, saw the silver, repacked him immediately with plans to call SSC. Luckily this thread stopped me.
No acetone! Always try "non-acetone" finger nail polish remover first. Less harsh and has a very good chance of doing the trick.
