I really think whoever was in charge of the silver paint should be fired.
Sensible.

Was meant as slight sarcasm. Just shows how bad the QC was on these pcs.Sensible.
So I decided to take another look at mine after all of the posts. I really think whoever was in charge of the silver paint should be fired.
Just received my shipping notice from alter ego for R2. Happy camper!
I'm guessing this isn't normal...
Ah, good thinking. I'll give it a try.In some cultures that's considered a sign of good luck!
You can remove a few screws, from the underside of the dome, pop the cover off and then reaffix the projector. Should be easier and a lot more environmentally friendly than destroying that dome and getting a replacement.

Haha... nope. Took all the screws out (and batteries) and even though I was able to pry the two underside loose, it's not coming apart. I could see glue inside. I'll wait to hear from SS before I risk busting this thing.
Someone else on here had the same problem and said that it was just VERY tight but not actually glued as it originally appeared to be. He had to use considerable force to pry it off but it did come off.
About a year ago, I bought the Taito R2. I did a complete lighting mod on it, which turned out very good. In preparation, I created small light-blocking compartments for each light, and painted them and the rest of the interior black. NO bleed-through whatsoever. I drilled out the three projectors, and all the other spaces for lights from the inside, then fitted each one with its own compartment. (I also did several other corrections, including radical surgery on the feet.)There's a ton of light bleed (on mine at least) so my rear projector actually has a dim green glow. Not to mention the different colored lights that bleed through all the little gaps on the dome.
