Is that now it came out, you haven't photoshopped this or anything? It looks great.

People seem to criticise this figure but it always looks good in photos. I've ordered one so i'll be interested to see how it looks in hand.

Yea, just an iphone. No photoshop or any tinkering. I thought it was pretty cool.

Nice work on the weathering! If it had looked like yours and Kamandi's out of the box, I might not have passed.

Looks good Marker. The one thing that doesn't show in my photos is I painted black the flat area around the retractable leg. Even though I never fully extend that leg it still was clearly white in there, looked wrong. Strange to say but Hasbro has always got this party right

Thanks guys!

If you're going for accuracy, don't forget to paint the black strips within the central vents as well. Sideshow apparently either forgot or just didn't want to go through the trouble. :)

There's actually some distance between the vent bevels and the back surface, so it's tricky to paint. It can be done by painting the back surface with black oil paint and cleaning the vents off right away with turpenoid.

Yea, a little tough to get all the way back in there, but not impossible. I may revisit it down the road. The difference between yours and mine Kamandi is that I used acrylics and water, not oils and turpenoid. Plus the alcohol of course. That was a welcome tip bud :wink1:

I think I'll paint my vents this way:

1) Mask around the vent
2) Spray all flat black... let dry
3) Use Q-Tips dipped in paint thinner to rub off the raised metal areas.

I think the cotton swabs will be just soft enough to push into and clean the areas that are supposed to be metal, without disturbing the black paint in the deep recesses. Any black paint that is left in the tight corners will look like shadow and oil deposits.

Got my Disney store R2 as well, ordered it Sun 3/8 it arrived Wed 3/11, straight from Sideshow, but I live 40 mins from SS so shipping is usually only a day for me. Funny thing is I never received a shipping email or anything... it just showed up. :) Nice figure though and for $112...great deal!

I ordered the same day but it will have to go to Florida. No shipping email and tracking from Disney store only says "active". I hope it shows up like yours next week.

Too bad I missed out on this Disney deal. I'd actually consider getting another if I could get it at this price. I'd go the opposite route with the figure than I did this time and give him a clean look as opposed to the dirty weathering I did. Hope Disney gets him back in stock again and they do the same deal.

I wonder if there's any possibility Sideshow might release an R5-D4 as well? They've already got most of the body created, after all. And he's probably the most famous and popular astromech after R2...

I know I would definitely buy one.
