When I was your age, we had 1/5 R2. Both ways. It wasn't until I met your mom we finally 1/7th R2. You kids and your 1/6 have it so easy.

No one I know received a sticker (this conversation pops up every 20 pages or so).

But you have the EX items plus a tray with 6 slots for the EXCLUSIVES so you don't need the sticker to prove it's the Ex.

"Not sure if serious" about this whole sticker thing.

Hence the dilemma about where to stick it. Can't find a photo of a box with one on! :lol

They also gave me a $25 credit because I asked if Artoo's doors were replaceable due to a chipped corner. It wasn't a normal discount code though:

This Sideshow Collectibles credit can be used on a future purchase or on an existing preorder. If there is something from our website that you are thinking about ordering, let me know the item number and we will book the order for you and apply this credit to that purchase. This offer is valid on any in-stock or preorder items listed in our online store.

I was able to apply it to Rocket and Groot, which was an order with a NRD, so under normal circumstances couldn't be cancelled to have a new code applied to it:

Per your request, your $25.00 Sideshow Collectibles credit will be applied to order...

Please know that this was an internal credit and it will not show up on the invoices for the item. This credit is applied to your order like money paid and is not subtracted from the total amount due on the invoice. Please rest assured that your credit has already been applied and it will reflect in the amount of the final charge to your credit card.

I could ask for an exclusive sticker but since I repainted my R2 it wouldn't be "mint" so there's really no point. Nobody will ever want mine....

I could ask for an exclusive sticker... but I don't care enough about needing it. :)

I never actually asked for a sticker, I just enquired whether the box should've arrived with one on it.

The response was:

We understand a few of the R2s may have gone out without the exclusive sticker, we will be glad to send you one for your box.

A "few"? The reverse would seem to be true that a few might've gone out with the exclusive sticker.

Is anyone selling this in Britain? I would like to get it to go alongside my Bandai C-3PO, as it looks great in many of the photos I've seen.

Hey guys, grabbed R2 from my LCS... I was looking on sideshows site and i think mine came with the exclusive accessories... Just no sticker. Did Sideshow make all of them exclusive? Im kind of confused. Could someone who got the ex post a pic of the exact exclusive items? Would be greatly appreciated

Sideshow forgot to put exclusive stickers on the R2 exclusive figures so maybe they confused themselves and sent out some wrong ones. You lucked out! Nice bonus.

I got my R2 today and here are some of my thoughts:

I'm sorry but I have to laugh at a lot of you, the ones who say R2 is junk or cheaply made. So ridiculous. Honestly, what were you expecting? A solid cold cast porcelain articulated action figure with metal parts??? I was a little worried (read very, very little, but still) that the figure would be as cheap as some of you were making it out to be before I got it in hand. But once I opened him up and picked him up out of the tray, I can honestly say that this it is EXACTLY what I was expecting it to be. And no I don't mean cheap. It's exactly how I was expecting it to feel, look, function, everything when I first saw it up for order. It's literally the premium format in 1/6 scale. So as to why some people have declared it cheap junk is just ludicrous to me. You must've not wanted to like this piece if you decree it to be such junk, looking for excuses to hate on it. The figure is exactly what it is: plastic and with a lot of movable, fragile parts. But that's no different from any other model or most figures in this scale in this hobby. Most things are fragile, but you've literally got to have ham hands if you're constantly breaking this thing. It's actually much more durable that many of you give it credit for. Sure, some doors can pop off, but they can just as easily pop back on too (I popped one off on purpose to try it). But literally, that's about it. It's stout after that. This is a figure that's supposed to be placed on the shelf for display purposes, not to be thrown across the floor during play time. So I can honestly say I'm 100% happy with this little guy. The light function is awesome. All the little gadgets are great and function properly. I didn't use the drink tray so I can't speak for that yet, but everything works as advertised. The paint and weathering effects are done very well also. I'm very excited to have such a cool little guy on my shelf. Couldn't be happier with it.

Now with that said, I did want to go ahead and start modding him right away with a new paint job. I liked the paint, don't get me wrong, but I knew I could do a better job than what was there, plus I enjoy weathering things, and Kamandi was right in that R2 looks better with some dirt and grime. So I went to work almost right away and I'm pretty satisfied with the results. I'll have some pics tomorrow.

Here's a teaser that I took before I started on the legs and feet while I still had some light. This is just the body, but you get an idea of the dome.

I agree.

This Artoo is a mostly pre-assembled model kit designed to replicate numerous scenarios. The little guy is also a lot tougher than he seems.

In a world previously inhabited by Hasbro, poorly detailed clocks or under-sized Medicoms, I never expected to have a 1/6 R2-D2 at this price that would look so good the moment you open the box.
