The seam is unfortunate, plus the subtle chamfer on the lower corner of the eye surround is a strange addition.

Considering there is so much accurate, detailed information on R2 (like the amazing https://astromech.net/) I'm surprised this guy isn't spot on.

Excuse the metric scale, but at 171mm, this R2 will be too short. The R2 props built by Lucasfilm range from about 1.07m to 1.09m- so R2 should be around 180mm at 1/6.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to having him next to my Tamashii 3PO... but damn... a few little things would have made this awesome without the lingering thought of upgrading if a better option came along...

That being said, I hope Sideshow do the 1/6 3PO and he's proportionate to R2!

Thanks for sharing the Astromech.net site, it will come in most handy when I decide which droid to get for future releases.

It's not hard to make a seamless dome. Therefore, in the context of an otherwise awesome looking figure, I'll quibble about it.

I'm not even gonna think about the seam until we see final pics. I can't imagine where the 1/4 was seamless that the 1/6 would have one.

Holding off judgment until you see how it turns out? That's just crazy talk :cuckoo

This seam talk is silly. Every figure I own has a seam.

I bet you don't have too many sculpts where the seam runs down the front of their face though.

There is no seam :lecture

Get with the program people. The action alarm clock is not the same as the Taito R2D2 clock.

I present to you the R2D2 action alarm clock:

While taller than the Hasbro and Medi and possibly the Sideshow it's not as tall as the Taito and a little too oblong for my personal tastes.

Dem ventz :drool

I think they're inspection hatches, as the bodywork on some of these models is harder to remove than on others.

I need to check this model over closely to make sure the blueprints are correct :wink1:

With your blueprints in hand and once that bodywork is off, you can give the chassis a thorough going over.
