Kind of feels like R2 was value priced in order to get people to over pay for C-3PO...

Feels that way a bit. I guess R2 is Sideshow's 'swan song' for the old... From Jedi Luke to R2. The Decade that was.

Now a new time has dawned. A Dark Time.

It's definitely a nice touch (no pun intended) especially if you have the figure out. But if it's behind glass, then not so much. I really just hope the switching is static and that it comes back to the same state when power is remove and re-applied. That will enable external switching so that he can turn on/off with other lighting in the display. I'd hate to have to rewire the figure. Same goes for the table actually as I really want to have my battery eliminators working for these as soon as they come out.

If you are able to offer external switching on this like you do with Vader, mark me down for an order!

He needs to arrive first week of December to guarantee time to sort (usually a week) and then time to ship (possibly another week for some).

But good news all the same. I'm really looking forward to the figure -- moreso than any previous figure since Grievous. I'm pretty sure R2 will be more fun than Grievous.

I'm stoked lets hope 4 early processing in next few weeks. I'm very happy i finaly picked up old ben last year. I hope hot toys doesnt take forever to make old ben for us , Hopefully we see him in 2015 comic con i ... Agree... Grievous is really an incredible achievement, but not much fun as he's very complicated and seems like it'd be easy to snap a limb and he only "kind of" stands on his own.

I am not normally a fan of sound chips. But on R2 I would have made an exception. Beep and whirls would have been great.

Sorry all. I have't seen R2 on any recent shipping updates, so I can only say that he's still estimated for December as I type this (since that is what is currently on the site). If he gets pushed back to January then the site will be updated accordingly.

Given that R2 seems far more desirable than 3PO to most people, wouldn't overpricing R2 and underpricing 3PO have made more sense (if they did indeed see R2 and 3PO as a "set" sold separately)?

It's funny how they seem to have gone out of their way to over-accessorize R2 and yet price him really affordably, but 3PO they go $80 higher and give him nothing but a wires-shoulder-stump to sweeten the deal.

Anthony Tsang First impressions I think you can tell it is a SSC figure, not HT. Just the overall look doesn't scream out high quality.

^^^ The plastic on the open panels does however look......toyish?
