you Can't compare those photos of the Don and Toht... for one thing, Toht picture was with a flash, and the HT head has good lighting. That makes a BIG difference. (hell, I've taken pictures of my customs with a flash before and they look HIDEOUS )

second... when Sideshow figures cost £150 like the HT stuff? THEN you can compare them lol. They're different markets, and different price ranges.

Well, I think my photo looks quite good thanks. Yes, I used flash but it came out where it didn't play much of a factor in the shot.

If most people took actual product price into account (not bargain bin discounts) before flapping their gums, this would never be an issue.

Anyone have any more photos of Toht? I have the Ex on order so I'm still waiting. I must admit, a few things look disappointing to me. Definitely the glasses are terrible. And the hands/head skin tone that doesn't match the base body is also disturbing, not to mention the "soft" headsculpt (looks a bit too rounded or young-ish). And has anyone been able to fix his collar any better? I think it still looks bad--worse than Belloq's.

I'm hoping some of these issues are just because the pics so far are a little too close up, and are not really noticeable when you have the figure in-hand or are looking at it from a normal distance.

As much as it pains me I think I'm gonna drop the Toht Ex. I'm not as happy with the final product as I was hoping I'd be. Also having the Ark just doesn't excite me as much.

I'll still try and get Toht, but probably just settle for a regular version and call it a day.

Just took a look at the proto pics myself, since you brought it up.... Wow, the real deal are total crap! The prototype glasses look pretty good to be honest....

I'm determined not to bash the soft sculpt, dodgy collar, comedy glasses... Just gonna post some nice pics as soon as he arrives, this is the picture thread isn't it?

Waiting for the Ex, too. And I'm also a little anxious about the crappy glasses, bad collar and soft sculpt. But I'm hoping he'll look better in-hand when we're all not scrutinizing every detail and he stands in place with the rest of the figures.

Anybody who's got him care to pose him with Indy and Belloq?

There's really no getting around the glasses and shirt collar, both are crap. The sculpt really isn't that bad though. It could have used a couple of hard lines to emphasize his age but overall it's pretty decent. Pro body skin tone v. head sculpt and hands coloration is were I was disappointed though. To me that's just sloppy.

A lot of folks are spending some decent coin on the ex and after seeing the reg ed released month earlier I can see why some would consider cancelling Toht when questions also remain about the Ark.... especially at what? 170 a pop? Toht is a nice figure but at this point I'm happy I saved a couple bucks and went with the standard.

Really? The collar doesn't seem like an issue to me, something that can be fixed. The biggest issue is definitely the glasses, which I an get over quick with a new pair but I will probably have the melty head on with no glasses for a while.

While the melting face is a great novelty, I always thought the most iconic scene with Toht was where he raised his hand and showed the scarred imprint of the headpiece.

That's probably how I'll end up posing him since I know my wife will have a conniption if I display him with the melty face! (She's also scared of Darth Maul so I have to keep him in the background! )
