To be fair with Sideshow, they're saving the horror for the reveal of the final production piece...like they did with Luke :rotfl

That Luke would look great if it were painted by HT. As is though I only see $130.

Wait what thread am i in again?

Oh yeah, Creepshow starts today.

I know everyone is bashing but it doesn't look that bad, the eyes look realistic enough compared to snake plissken's Ice cristals. same as plissken it belogns in the $149 price range but remember the extra $$$ price tag comes down to licensing. I hope that ash is at $150 - $199 price range, still you can't deny that their tailoring is excelent and in a custom, the clothes alone are worth more than $200.

Good god those 2 sculpts aren't even close :slap, good one ssc. I mean the one looks nicely detailed with fine texture to the paint and nice apps for the moles. The other looks like some kid with bad acne and down syndrome eyes. :slap

I know this is the running narrative now, but. . .it doesn't explain how Hot Toys can pump out figures that cost less than this, yet look significantly better. In terms of accessories and whatnot, this release isn't too far removed from HT's Leia, and that is $205. But HT also has to pay those same licensing fees. So, SSC is just incredibly inefficient.

It is more expensive for SSC to run their operation than HT.

SSC's stuff still sucks, but they do have higher operating costs. SSC's figures have to pay for CS staff, that plush office building, warehouse and staff, etc, all things that HT doesn't have. Mind you, I'd imagine that SSC's customer service reps are paid more than HT's sculptors, cost of living being what it is, with the difference between the US and Korea.

Yes, I've also assumed that that is the case, and feeds into this level of inefficiency. But cost of living in Korea is actually fairly high from my understanding. HT probably benefits most from it being headquartered in Hong Kong.
