Hmm. It's hard to tell, but looking at pics it seems a few of these dios have the dreaded 'stunted toe' issue. This one seems particularly bad though. Shame cos it's an outstanding piece otherwise. I'll try another one, but if that's bad too I might just resculpt that bit and paint it up myself - should be a relatively easy fix.

Hmm. Requested a return on it and just been told by Sideshow that:

"Unfortunately, we no longer have replacements available for this item."

What? But it's in stock according to the website...! What's going on here? :dunno

Well, today I finally got off my ass and took some decent pictures of this gorgeous diorama. Seeing as how i've never done the environments properly(excluding my Carnotaurus pics), I decided to do as good a job as possible with this one. According to the backstory, this scene takes place at a river delta. Since I don't have one of those nearby, I decided to make one. After alot of digging, adding water with a little food coloring, I was able to create a proper scene.

Here are my pics, which I hope you all enjoy. It's been awhile since this piece was unveiled, but I hope these pics can make up for my late entry. :lol

Stunning as always. I don't think I would ever be brave enough to put a statue on the edge of a cliff like that.

Thanks Mightytrex. I can see by your avatar, your someone who appreciates this kind of thing. ;)

Thanks Dan. It gets easier, the more I do it. You just have to make all the necessary preperations, and never take it outside if you think it might rain. :wink1:

For anyone that does take their statue ouside, I suggest you dust it off before re-displaying it.:wink1:

Aye..some shots at sundown perhaps ? Let the orange and red in the sky play off the water a little.

The addition of food coloring was a neat idea to get the right perspective...kudos ! That might work out really well when you get the Spino maquette as well.. ;D

Any chance we can get some larger dio shots with new Foulkes Para and the Sideshow Deino VS Para piece ? They looks similar enough I believe you get something really cool with them.

Thanks for the props. I'm thinking of increasing the size of my man- made pond and creating some kind of beach for the Spinosaurus.

As far as making a larger diorama for the Para dio and maquette, I might be able to do something. It's very nerve wracking, when taking your statues out in the elements. If Sideshow would provide me with free Dinosauria pieces, I could take some amazing pics without the worry of getting them dirty. If I had the money, i'd just buy two of each. :wink1:

I know what you mean..I see a lot of JP and other dinosaur figures used in outdoor dios..but I would say your the first to actually use these type of statues. The closest anyone else would come would be the 1/1 pieces you see in parks and such.

Yeah it would a lot easier if you had a double you could dirty-up, even remove from it's base and use the natural turf for shots...imagine finding a nice patch of dried up mud and just setting the Carno down on it..maybe add a smaller dinosaur toy out in front escaping..the one element they left off but hinted at in the orig piece.

If you do the Para set..think it would be an adult running away from the carnage or running in to attempt to save it's young ?

If I do a Para diorama, it will definately be the adult running away from the attack. No offense to the adult, but I don't think it could do much in a situation like that.:(

i got one of these dios for sale, if anyone is interested please pm me.....and sorry to have bumped and old thread. :wink1:
