Anyone who frequents any Hot Toys threads knows full well that there are problems with practically every release. From small things to large. Inaccuracies and quality control problems all the time.

There seems to be a myth around Hot Toys that they create perfect figures every single time, which is not even remotely the case.

Plus it would be $300 and everyone who is complaining in this thread would be complaining in a HT thread. Its just the same stupid collector bull**** of "the other guy will do it better".

This place is so ****ing stupid sometimes.

I doubt we'll see both versions of the mask. The main issue is that Lucas has always been a revisionist. Everything about Star Wars was either created/invented on-the-fly or after the fact. Nothing wrong with that, and it's an example of great collaborative creativity. But in terms of the movie's "universe" Vader isn't supposed to be any different between the two movies. He didn't go out and buy a new suit nor mask.

What we're seeing are strictly production decisions and had they been thought of before the second movie was filmed, we'd have seen them there too.

Kinda surprised to hear this coming from you, as you're generally one of the best at staying above the fray and having a good sense of humour about stuff. Just don't get where you got the impression that anyone here was saying HT is perfect? I have Iron Monger with factory cracked thighs (though very tough to see... damn whoever posted those pics in the first place!), so I know first-hand their stuff isn't flawless. At the same time, it's getting to the point in these threads where one can't even give one's neutral thoughts on the subject anymore without people going crazy and being accused of being a troll or hater. I agree the forum is pretty ****ed at times but there's people feeding into it from both sides. We should be able to have a civil discussion about a figure's pros and cons without anyone getting upset about it.

Hmmm, yep, I could see that. Was thinking they might want to make an ESB version to milk the character but it's possible that it's not an option for them due to LFL.

Haha, I'm not taking it personally. I just don't know what he and a lot of other people are referring to as I've read the same thread and have yet to see any trolling, rants against the figure (aside from nitpicking/complaining about price) or hateful posts. So not sure where the defensiveness is coming from in some of the posts I'm reading.

I'm really only seeing a ROTJ Vader here. No real ESB 'tells', you know? I'm thinking they can easily do an ESB Vader later, and why WOULDN'T they?

And, this Vader helmet works, it seems. Didn't they originally say they would never do functional helmets?

I'm jus hoping for an ESB Vader later. I was going to get two hybrid Vaders; one for ESB and one for ROTJ, but I'll get this one, mistakes and all, and call it my ROTJ Vader. If they never do an ESB I'll grab another one and mod it to ESB later.

And yes, I hope they fix the Republic symbol and Shaw likeness, but I did keep a Hasbro reveal figure just in case....

But for $250 I shouldn't have to....

Note the gold details on the ROTJ not on the ESB. I see the gold detailing in the SS pics.

EDIT: Yep, I also see some ESB silver details on there not on the ROTJ. I give up!

Classic. Forget the tiny amount of paint on the two little fins and look at the number of items on the panel. Look at the silver items above both of the biggest LEDs. The one between the switch-like things. All ESB. The sculpt and paint apps, with the exception of the two gold fins, is ESB.

Paint is much more likely to be changed during production than sculpt, so it stands to reason this can become even more ESB correct.

It's clear this figure is somewhat of a mishmash, but there's nothing wrong with that, IMO.
