Re: sideshow gift cards are garbage

I'd love a $50 gift card, but the $15 ones are pretty useless considering almost anything on the list you can get for well under retail and save way more than $15 if you look around.

If I had a $50 one I would buy the cantina seats right now.

Re: sideshow gift cards are garbage

I can identify with what the thread starter is saying though - but yes, as most of you point out, it was FREE.

The thing that does bother me though about these gift cards is that, say you use a $25 gift card on a $200 purchase, you don't receive reward points for ANY of that money. And you can't use more than one gift card on an item, so lets break it down:

$200 - $25 = $175
$175 / 20 = $8.75 (the 20 indicating the value of the reward points you would have gotten.
So technically, you only saved (25 - 8.75) $16.25.

And they don't spell this out for you, so really you save pennies, and hand them a whole wad more of your money.

You do not get reward points if u use gift cards.:lecture

Yes, my point exactly.

And it's the same with Reward Point redemption - if you use your reward points on an item, you get NO REWARD POINTS from that purchase, not even on the balance that wasn't covered by reward points. Confused yet?

I bought the Avatar AMP Suit Maquette, $1200, and used about $250 worth of Reward Points on it. But received 0 reward points for this massive purchase. Had I bought it ordinarily, I'd have made $60 worth of reward points, but I got none of that, so my saving of $250 was really only worth $190 :(

Re: sideshow gift cards are garbage

I dont think international customers get them now. I havent had a gift card in my last 4 orders from Sideshow.

Please contact our Customer Service Department (contact information can be found in my signature below) if you are an international customer that has not received a gift card with your recent orders. Please note: Gift Cards are now placed in your online account for use. Physical cards are no longer sent out within international customers packages.

well, they could always go back to no rewards points at all for anybody.:dunno

Re: sideshow gift cards are garbage

I haven't used one in ages but I can't sit here and say they are garbage. Oddly enough there was a time when the Wolf Predator and RE4 Leon were available for purchase w/ a giftcard. Now they're fairly sought after figures. When it comes right down to it they are a freebie and you don't lose anything on them if you don't use them. I do wish you could combine multiples on a single purchase, but I can understand why they don't do that.

As for reward points I don't really take into account the points I'm not getting and deduct that from the price. So long as I'm using more points than I'm missing out on I'm good.

Re: sideshow gift cards are garbage

I remember a couple of years ago when they allowed you to combine cards for something...either a Fantacular or a Spook, now that was awesome. I had a couple of $10s and a $20 that took a nice amount off of my order.

Re: sideshow gift cards are garbage

So you are going to complain about them giving you gift card? If you don't want it, I'm sure someone else would appreciate it because unlike you, there are many people who would like many of the pieces they have eligible for gift cards.

Sideshow also gives reward parts for all your purchases - those you can use on pre-orders and anything else. I'd say they give a lot...look at Spooktacular and their Fan appreciation week - now tell me how many other companies out there give out thousands and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise to their fans?

Well said Jen, well said:clap

I think that was fantatcular. But during 1 Spook they allowed you use combine gift card use with the Spook discounts. So I got a PF for under $60!

Ah. Those were the days.
