Agree on the limits of articulation, but with none at all it just strikes me as a statue.

Pretty much. It's really more of a large scale accessory or prop. A statue accessory with its own set of removable accessories. I'd love to see a version with realistic scaled fur, but I'm fine with the otherwise restricted posing (head and horn swapping) given its for use with the 1/6 figures that are very articulated themselves.

No fake fur! :gah:

I agree! Chewy should use only real fur, as the fake stuff can be too shiny and hard to manage, plus a sculpted Chewy, IMO, would be totally pointless as a 1/6 (articulated) figure. I'm not a collector of Gentle Giant products. Save the sculpted Chewy for a PF.

:exactly: Or just a really elaborate base!

I'm personally looking forward to all the little items and accessories that adorn the Tauntaun, especially that white boxy beacon thing with the two antennas that Han uses, and that awesome little pouch it fits in.

I meant no fur at all. At least you're consistent with misunderstandings.. :monkey4

..& please don't say - "..well.. if you meant that.."

You wonder why people get the ****s with you. :lol

Well - if that's what you meant..

:nana:

Apologies man - fair enough.. I had an inkling you were doing that actually.

Just going off past back & forths. :lol

Looks like Grievous is now up for pre-order (@ $250), so if that figure is any indication, Hoth Han and Luke might be up for pre-order sometime before the end of 2015. ;) Woohoo!

250 dollars? LOL. Sideshow is the new Hot Toys...

Does anyone have one of the hasbro taun tauns? I would think the leg articulation is a hindrance when trying to keep it standing up. If you move the legs too much out of a balancing position it would topple over. Especially with a rider in its back. After the legs get loose its hard enough to stand anyway. So the leg articulation would not be practical for this release. Much better to have it this way.

The no articulation doesn't bother me a bit for these. I just see them as a super huge fancy diorama base kind of thing.

The only purpose I would use articulation on a tauntaun would be to lay it on its side and have the belly be able to be cut open. But that would be practically impossible for an articulated tauntaun to achieve a convincing laying down pose. The legs and neck would all have to be able to slump down to look like the creature had any weight.

I understand what everyone is saying about articulation but I had a lot of fond memories of having my oldschool Kenner one "running around". I do wish these could be articulated even a little (like head turns/tilts or something). It is a really cool statue and I will definitely be contemplating it. Echo Base Han and Probe Droid are 100% definites for me, we'll see about a Taun Taun once they pre-order it.

I hear ya on that. That's why I picked up both the new 4 inch scale taun tauns to play around with. Lots of articulation and fun to be had.

Well with the two heads and swappable horns it's like the head turns (two one of two positions) and even opens his mouth :lecture

One of the biggest problems with the Hasbro version was the material that it was made from not being able to support the weight of the figure...and Sideshow's figures are heavier.

Other than that, Hasbro's Taun Taun is much better than Sideshow's offerings. I actually tried really hard to create an excuse to buy the Sideshow Taun Taun. I finally came up with the idea that they might make pretty cool book ends. But then I did some brick work in my yard, and found that the extra bricks do just fine as the book ends. So now I am back to having no use for the Sideshow Taun Tauns.

:monkey3:)

Yeah, Sideshow really dropped the ball on those Tauntauns... and the in progress photos looked so promising too. :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2
