Unlike Hoth Luke, I have almost no complaints with Solo but if Sideshow is going to charge as much as Hot Toys now then they really need to step up their game and deliver a Hot Toys quality product. The rubber boots were a cheap corner they cut. Hot Toys would have delivered quality cloth boots. Fortunately I've a pair of HT Bespin Luke boots on the way to mod though and thankfully that should be the only "upgrade" this figure really needs other than the usual body swap to a Hot Toys Truetype.

Just dab some matte clear on the boots. It's really only the slight sheen that is responsible for any "cheap toy" aspect and they're a great sculpt. Even with all the mods necessary to make the HT Bespin boots look like Hoth boots (and that is a lot of work) they still really aren't correct for Hoth because they are the thin canvas versions, not the fat padded fabric versions used on location in Finse, which are the most commonly seen.

I have an extra set of HT Bespin garb and will be doing a new Bespin Luke using the new SSC unhatted head. It looks awesome on the Ht outfit and really matches up well with my HT BD head display.

The boots are still rubber, look like rubber, and still look cheap and will likely deteriorate over time. Rory did a FANTASTIC job modding the Bespin boots for Hoth Luke and I'll be modding mine following his. It's a tremendous improvement, whether or not it is 100% film accurate or not, it just makes the figure shine like a "High End" collectible figure should and not look like a Hasbro Toy.

Yeah, I guess I'm more of a screen accurate guy. After you paint them maybe add some interior padding to fatten them slightly and then remove the hard rubber inner to splay out the shoe and widen the toe parts a bit. Looking forward to see how they come out.

I'll be hitting the rubber boots with some matte clear and also some crunchy snow weathering.

It's not just the material thickness, the edges of the uppers finish pointing forward on the Hoth boots, but pointing down on the Bespin. It would have been amazing to have these boots done up in pleather, but I'm not sure Hot Toys would have done it either for the Hoth version. Some folks forget Bespin Luke was a DX release and cost $300 three years ago.

In many ways they are totally different constructions, though snowspeeder Luke wears both versions (depending on studio or location.)

I am impressed with people who cut up the HT Luke non-BD head and take a scalpel to the HT boots. I'd just sweat and then give up. I've seen that non-BD head as high as $100 and the boots ain't cheap anymore (I have a few extra sets I got dirt cheap, but they are for Bespin/Snowspeeder use only.:lecture)

Shouldn't be too hard to pad them out with some cotton balls and I'll definitely be weathering it up with snow.

Hey, thanks for posting about the parted Han! Just grabbed the brown coat and my blue EX is out on the truck right now. Just curious to see how the brown looks in-hand.

I also grabbed a Luke belt (they just parted out another few Lukes btw - they had sold out all Luke parts except the hands in a few hours a couple of days ago) for my new Luke Bespin with the SSC head. I was just pulling together parts to make a belt/holster and it popped up on TA again! Saved a few hours there.:yess:

Damn, missed that brown vest. Gonna have to check again. Will probably get a pro 1.0 at the same time for Luke.

:rotfl :rotfl :rotfl You missed it!

Really? They must have only had one or two...I have been watching the site since Monday...I saw some parts listed tonight, just figured it was due anytime now...guess I can clear the cart I have been building and go look at other sites for parts.

TA used to be great fro getting parts, they don't seem to have much up anymore, I am guessing they are breaking down less figures...most screens are almost empty...only a day or two after listing...

They had four in stock when I ordered mine. I actually figured that it would just sit there (maybe that was just my prejudice against the brown coat.:lol)

But don't worry, they'll put more up. They sold out of 4 lots of Luke parts a few days ago and then put more up today. Probably in the next 2-3 days they'll do more Han.

I've been watching TA like a hawk! I got a brown parka so I now have the option of either color. That was my plan all along. I hope they do part another Luke as I think I'd like to put that exclusive "Wampa Attack" portrait to good use.

How much was the brown coat at TA?

WOW...even the Ebay one is gone now...that brown coat is going to be a hard find...
