Oh boy… You might want to learn to use the color analysis tools better because what you're capturing isn't the color of the coat at all, but the incorrect white balance due to the blue color cast from the LIGHTING. You know that saying about people in glass houses? Yeah, they see blue skies all day. ;)

Or I suppose he should also be wearing blue gloves and hat with a blue radio? And of course the snow should also be blue :gah: Damn, I don't have time now to find this exact same discussion at the start of the thread. But I'll check later and we can all just re-link instead of writing new content.

Instead of getting into this again, why don't we link people back to the earlier discussions on this topic - everything that will ever be said about it has already been said.

I almost bumped the thread about the jacket color. Then I thought I might be opening a can of worms. :lol

On the one hand I like the brown coat.

And on the other hand I like the blue coat.

I saw the actual jacket on display at Star Wars Celebration 4 in L.A in 2007. First time it's ever been shown in an exhibition.
Brown. Not Blue.
It looks more blue in the movie because they used a lot of blue filters (particularly in the special editions). All of the Hoth scenes have got a much more blue filter on them compared to the original.

Here is a photo that I took when I was standing 2 feet away from it. I used the flash on my camera.

You might want to go have that looked into, because here is what the colour in that picture averages out to using a large sample analysis (I opened up the colour picker to show the colour selected better):

Another user got similar results during the last round.

No matter what the prop was, the filters they used in filming made it blue on screen.

Yup. How is looks on the movie screen is how it should be made, not how the prop looks.

That's why SS Qui-Gon's poncho looks nothing like the one on screen.

:slap Lighting is part of the whole prop setup.

Forget ALL props. The coat appeared brown on screen - don't rely on memory, verify it by watching the movie again - on BluRay or other HD source if you have it. This whole issue is 100% a Kenner one - pre-production drawings with color codes for the toys were even posted earlier.

Even though it appeard blue in the film i like the fact they made it brown as the real prop was made. They seem to be making little 'homages' to the real props with these as I know the Vader does as well.

On a more topic-related note, If you go back to see the info I first posted from Rebelscum's SDCC coverage, the details announced officially at that time for these figures made no mention of Exclusives nor exclusive-only items. Which is good news for those wanting both coats as part of the regular set.

This also leads to the question, and let's start speculating here, of what might be included as an exclusive with this release. I can't come up with any good suggestions right now… ;)

Well yeah, the entire picture is blue...Even the Snow :rotfl

Wow, I didn't think the discussion was going to delve this far back. Some like the brown, some like the blue. If it comes with both, no big deal. If not, get the one you like - why the fuss?

They used Several Blue filters, and lighting effects and cells to make the hoth scenes "Feel colder" to the auidence.

This is why we also have a blue chewbacca.

But hey, if you guys want a Blue Chewie PF and figure from sideshow in the future, more power too ya :lol

Oh man, the blue/brown discussion again. :lol

I like blue personally. Don't really give a rats *** what the correct one is.
